I have heard of springers breaking people teeth from 30-50 feet away.

My tooth was shot out with a desert eagle springer pistol ($15 at G.I. Joe's) at a range of 35 feet. Labeled around 215 fps. He was aiming for my chest. I was inside a dormitory, on a University campus where airsoft guns are absolutely not allowed on premises, at night, reading the Oregonian with no eye protection, and most definitely not playing an airsoft game. Needless to say, the beating that ensued was legendary. The little stinker still owes me $750 for the root canal I had to get.

Well, uh... Yes, that will happen.

I've been hit in the tooth by a gun at short range, and suffered no ill effects. I've seen other people hit at long range, and get a tooth shot out.

Its rare - but it happens. I recomended to a kid that was rolling with me yesterday that he wear a full mask, rather than cutting it and painting his face. If I recall correctly I asked him how much he valued his teeth, and how much his parents wanted to pay for new ones. He stayed with a full mask - harder to aim, but easier on his mouth.

*shrugs*

Sorry about your tooth man . . . . i hate to sound like a cold bastard, but "thats airsoft"

Mouthguards are a good way to help prevent your teeth from beeing shot out if you decide not to wear a balaclava or a face mask.

Dont forget when Jesse from Nukeproof got his tooth shot out. And I swear someone got theirtooth shot out at Scapoose a while back. I think I've seen 3-5 teeth shot out since I started playing.

Don't catch flies while using your sights. I used to slap people for that on the rifle qual course.

I'd also suggest not running around with your mouth open duirng a game. Comsidering in the last 4-5 years, there have been a couple hundred games, and easily more than one million rounds fired by all sides, and we've had at MOST 5 of these incidents, it seems to be a marginal problem that you're getting over excited about. If it's that much of an issue with you, wear a full face mask or a mouth guard.

We're not going to require a full mask around here. You want one, wear one. You want to take a chance at getting hit in the teeth, don't. It's really (and I really mean it when I say really) that simple.

now i am sure this is a rare event, but even still i will be putting a tube of oragel pain reliver in my med kit for just these occasions, so wilth a dab of orajel and some ranger candy, and atleast for the immediate situation you will not be in pain. i would suggest to other team medics to include this item in your medic rollout!

and team medics...also go get CPR certified, i dont want gunny dieing on me in a game, even if i have to use kendo as a respirator for a lil mouth to mouth, or A$$ to mouth if gunny is faking! LOL
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.
