How about these?

Postby Hutch » Thu Jan 06, 2011 5:52 pm

Concluding my Balisong question, I bought two cold steel training knifes. One's a claw knife, the other is a thrust/push dagger. They are made out of plastic and rubber(There are metal key-rings on the handles, and are removable). They barley bend at all, leading me to this question. So guys, how legal are these ones?
Sorry for repeating a past question, and kinda posting a bs thread!

They are usually allowed at games using AP safety rules. You need to tap the person tho, no slashing or stabbing motions.

RUBBER KNIFE KILLS
Players are allowed to "tap out" other players with rubber or plastic knives made for safe Airsoft use. Touch your opponent with your rubber knife and simply tell them that they're dead. Contact should be no more than a tap; there's absolutely no slashing, throwing, hitting or martial arts physical contact allowed. Contact must be made with a rubber or plastic replica of a knife, sticks and other objects do not work. DO NOT tap another player in the head, neck, face or groin. Players eliminated by this method should try and acknowledge their hit/death silently.

Tapping motion is what I intended on. Thanks guys! I'm glad you understand my uninteligence rather than insult it.

Are they, by chance, Nightshade series "blades"? If so, they are not trainers at all, but instead made up of a polymer that will take a bit of an edge and won't really give much.

http://www.warriorsandwonders.com/Cold_Steel_Products/Cold_Steel_NightShade_Series_7_Piece_Set?zenid=6d19c655426576ea868e21775d42babb

If they are Nightshade series, they most certainly are NOT training knives.

***ninja edit: They may be training knives, in some application, but they are live blades, not rubber knives.***

@ Steve,
I'm not sure if they are "Nightshade". I do know they are made out of plastic and have no sharp edges or tips at all, thanks for your concern though.

I know Cold Steel makes a couple of training knives. They offer a rubber version of their Peacemaker knife, and some of their swords, including their tanto.

Pretty sure that if they made a trainer for their karambit blade, they would do what everyone else does (Emerson, Benchmade, SpyderCo), and do the blade out of metal, blunted, thickened, rounded, and with big holes drilled out to lighten it to the proper weight.

I'd almost be willing to bet money that the ones you have are part of their "Nightshade" line, which is basically a polymer blade designed to be sold to people who want to be able to brag about having undetectible kill sticks that will go right through metal detectors.

If it won't bend enough to touch the tip to the back of the handle, chances are that it isn't a training knife. Probably better off doing a bit of research first. Good bet that they aren't traininig knives at all.

you bought hte hard plastic ones that DO NOT bend.

i have a karambit made from the same composite. it is designed to get past metal detectors, and no they are NOT acceptable.

cold steel training knives made of poly rubber are the only things acceptable.

if you hurt someone on the field with what you have, you are soley liable for your actions.

please do not try to knife kill me if you see me.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

I got a bad cut on my neck from some "commando" that thought it would be fun to get someone from behind (nohomo). He was on my team, and wielded a

well, one of those. I punched him in the face. Careful with knife kills; just tap them with your hand lest someone think you have a real knife.

Yes, KA-Bar and Steve are correct. You purchased a Nightshade series. The Cold Steel trainers are acceptable for use. http://www.coldsteel.com/rubberknives.html
The nightshade series are plastic shanks. http://www.coldsteel.com/nightshadeseries.html
I dont think anyone will respond kindly to someone attempting a knife kill with a nightshade blade.
