It is dependent if the local GSGS Office (Forest Rangers) require a permit for public use. Checking with the local ranger station would be your first step.

i know you cant have them in national parks or state parks cant have any firearms "not even a slingshot"
i have had 3 airsoft pistols taken away by local police at a national park some ppl thought they were real guns (dont know how since we were shooting each other with them and none of us were bleeding) but anyhow they went to a payphone and called the cops and that was the end of those guns
so i wouldnt recomend having them there.
i came to ruin your life and wreck everything, god sent me

I know that if you have airsoft in a USGS/ Forest service campground you will be in some deep shit. But if you are say out of the campgrounds, and off of the main trails,(wooded areas) usgs doesn't care. because the land is constantly used by hunters etc.

YOu need to check with the Chief Law Enforcement Officer.

When I set up a game inthe MT. Hood National forest I contac USGS and the LE division as well as Clackamas county.

At your age I would suggest getting a more senior person to make this contact. A parent ar someone who is a legal adult. You will probaly find them less that seriouse about sitting down to discuss it with you. No offence just the simple truth.

It's a drag being young and having a lot of energy and good ideas without the age to be taken seriously by people you need to contact. I remember those days....now I have grey hair and everyone calls me sir.

Rules about National parks and national recreation areas, and national reserves all vary, so call a ranger and get the scoop. ...and yes, have an adult do it.

A vague tip tho: any place that allows hunting, and has hunting permits available will have to at least have a process you can go through for permission. It's worth a try. Every successful airsoft contact made makes the next one easier, even if it's a no-go, and you are professional about it, that still leaves a good impression.

Good luck.

Still though, getting permission would not be a cake walk. Most of the time National Parks double up as Conservation Reserves and I doubt that they would want any loose objects (such as a bbs that was left behind) to choke protective wildlife.

Of course I have never really checked before.

Where I live you need to talk to the Park district, not say the word "gun" , fill out forms, and use carrying cases, and dont tuant the public.

It's on public land, which makes it illegal in most places. Many times however, you can run it by the proper authorities and they'll clear you to use public land.

The most important thing to remember is that you should always inform the authorities before you play on public land.
