Thoughts on the CA p90 ?

Postby TMiller » Tue Nov 17, 2009 1:49 am

I'm looking to buy a new gun for cqb, and the CA p90 I saw at AONW caught my attention. How does Ap feel about this gun? Is it known for feeding issues? Gearbox trouble?

I like mine. The only issue I had with it is the Hicap that bleeding broke after 1000rds, but that issue may be fixed in the newer version.

The CA P90 is a great CQB weapon, but recognize that the Hi-Cap mags have the least dependability compared to any other gun. I find they're not good enough to use as anything other than a backup mag. The box-mag style is kinda nice since it uses M16 hi-cap mag input, but I don't use one since I switch hands constantly whenever I play. The box mag requires you to shoot right-handed only.
This is an example

The P90 is great for close quarters, since the short muzzle. Less likeliness you'll break your barrel in tight quarters. The gearbox is also one of the easiest to extract. When the retractor plate is removed, it literally falls out of the gun!

I have the CA P90 Sportsline series, and I've found the all magazines besides Tokyo Marui don't "click" in. What I mean is the CA, Echo1 and KS magazines fit in the gun, but hold the gun to the side and the magazine will pop out. The TM ones are the only ones I've found that actually lock in. Too bad they're about $30 for a midcap. :( It might be fixable with some filing.

Odd, I have a CA P90-SL and the KS/E1 mags I have fit and lock just fine.

I have TM hi cap mags for my p90 and they are still working today and the oldest one is about 2 1/2 yrs.

Its a shame to hear other brands are having troubles.

To be honest, everything I've heard and experienced about the CA P90 is great, so Atallwhiteboy, your friend might be having some freak experience.

Or you're just doing it wrong.

Anyway, that said, the awesomely low price tag on the CA P90 SL makes it way worth the money. I own the Echo 1, which is only barely cheaper, and definitely an inferior product.

manufacturer

Postby nickwilks » Sun Jan 03, 2010 11:07 am

Ime also looking at getting a P90 and have come across (in the UK) 2 main manufacturers, CA and TM. However CA variants are £140 and TM are £190-210. Can anyone explain the gap in price and weather this effects the quality?

Thanks

I really don't even know why CA even released a P90. The Tokyo Marui P90 is an incredible AEG. I never had a problem with mine. It was more accurate than most AEGs with an even longer barrel, it never jammed or had feeding issues, the hi-caps and the standards worked perfectly, and the rate of fire was awesome.

The only problem I had with it was the screws on the back inside plate stripped out, but if you aren't constantly taking your gearbox out and fumbling around like an idiot newb - you won't have that problem.

I wrote a review on the TM P90 years ago:

Still holds up today.
