Permatex Silicone Spray

Postby pwner18 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 8:12 pm

Hello, I am just wondering if Permatex Silicone Spray will work for airsoft guns. And yes, I realize that there is a sticky about WD 40, but I can't figure out if this is 100% silicone or not. There's no ingredients or contents list on the back, all it says is that it's a "special blend of high quality lubricating silicone which helps mechanical parts operate easily and protects components from corrosion and moisture."

Look up the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for the product.

As long as it does not cantian any "petroleum based products" it is fine and if it does it would tell you.

Does that mean I shouldn't use it at all? Is it really bad if I used it to clean my barrels already? I didn't even come close to the hop up bucking, so do I need to sterilize the barrel or no?

Yeah, don't use that. It's got stuff in it that you don't really want on your gun. The best place to find silicone oil, if you can't get it from an airsoft store, is to go to a Hobby Store and buy silicone oil for RC car shocks, or for use with RC Planes. That stuff is good and clean.

Ok, cool, thanks. But I don't need to be afraid of my guns exploding if I just cleaned the barrels with it once, do I?

As long as you don't put a lit match down the barrel you'll be fine.

This. Also, please use 10wt oil, from either Trinity, Team Associated, or Team Losi.
