That's pretty awesome. Seems like it would drain the battery really fast, though.

The tension on the spring responsible for accelerating the piston is going to be multitudes higher than the return spring of the blow-back action.

You should be more concerned with there being more moving parts to break, rather than the extra battery consumption.

Hopefully this blowback system is going to be great, and not full of suck like the Army L85. I'm really looking forward to seeing these on the field. 8)

Good find quigly. Its got a hefty price tag, so it better be good.

I would bet that it is just like the Echo 1/CYMA blowback MP5, which I own. It just uses a post on the "bolt" that hooks into a slot on the piston and it is stupid simple nothing to break and gives a really good "recoil" feel. It also moves the full length off a 9mm or in this case that goofy 7.62x25mm round unlike the pneumatic versions of blowback. On my echo 1 I get about 1100 rounds out of a 1200mah battery and I'm shooting 400fps, battery consumption is really negligible.

the downside is that it really does effect the rate of fire because of the extra weight. I get about 750rpm out of my MP5SD with a 9.6v which is perfect because thats the real ROF for the SD version, but the PPSh-41, as anyone who has played CoD knows, is 900rpm or higher (due to different alloys of metals used in the bolt because of lovely QC issues) and I doubt that the system is LiPo ready because of the extra mass, thats my only beef with the blowback system (if I am right on how it works) on that gun :/

It’s pneumatic, and has nothing to do with a hook on the piston; and everyone underestimates the pneumatic blowback. It goes ALL the way back on my mp5, and never locks open after shooting full auto unlike the hook-piston blowback guns do. Just needed to clear some things up.

And I agree that the star ppsh is probably a hook-and-piston design.

[Edit]not G&G[/Edit] STFU and thanks for not contributing anything to the conversation

If you would like to debate the virtues of Pneumatic BB or nit pick about 3 characters in a post I made, feel free, but here we are talking about the star PPSh-41

Sorry bout the bitterness :(
I was a little angry when I logged on because my math teacher was being a dou**bag about my hand writing in school today(which was the difference between a B and an A on my math final)...

And I'm wondering if we could find anyone with any experience with a ARES EBB because I got a ton of x-mas money, and if the Star ppsh was any good I might have to give it a shot.

EDIT: My bad, ARES

Star=ARES, which is why I'd stick away from the gun. I don't trust Star.

Ares never was STAR. They made cheap guns for them, and realized they were getting a bad name. Then they started producing their own high quality stuff.

ares was star's OEM for gun's. to say shitty, eh half right. you do realize the ARES british guns and STAR british guns. are... exactly the same. they are releasing the same gun with metal gear box. star wasnt making money and was making other crap besides airsoft. and they fumbled. its like LCT making guns. they were the OEM for VFC guarder and inokatsu.
