Piston release?

Postby ogrejager » Mon Jun 17, 2013 10:10 am

So I'm trying to take apart a KWA M4. The gearbox piston is partially compressed. This makes it hard to take the upper and lower receivers apart. I think the rear tabs are binding on the gearbox.

Is there a simple solution to this? Either a way to take them apart easily or a way to release the piston on a gun that doesn't go bang when you pull the trigger?

EDIT--Never mind. The anti-reversal doo-dad. Done.

Dental pick/hook up through the grip can easily snag the AR and pop it. Or a sturdy paper clip. Or any metal object with a hook/angled end...

A set like that can be very handy.

I broke off all my dental picks (don't ask, seriously), but a sturdy paper clip is what I used. I left it in my toolkit.

In other news--it lives! Turns out somehow I'd fried the trigger (the contacts were good, it was the plastic) mechanism.

But it turns out that if you've got two KWA's--one with a bad trigger and one with a bad gear box, you can actually make one that works.

I saw you mention this in a post FOREVER ago, and have used the "dental pick" a few times. I just use a mini screwdriver with a kink in it. Excellent tip, and screwdrivers are a little tougher.
