SCR XM8 Gen II

Postby prowl375 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:56 pm

Ok, so I am looking into getting the gun above as a CQB primary and a secondary to my sniper rifle. I have already Googled it plenty so I don't want any trolls telling me to do that. I'd like to get a player's perspective on the GEN II (NOT GEN III) model since that is the only one I can find at a decent price.

I've heard lots of good and bad things about the rifle. The big thing I'd like to know about is the quality of plastic. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being UKArms, 5 being JG, and 10 being G&P), how good or bad is it? Stock wobble does not bother me, so that isn't a problem in my case.

There's nothing wrong with it, just that there are better guns for the price. Unless you plan to completely overhaul it with higher quality G36 internals: a G36 is a better idea.

I give it 3/10

Problem is I have a very tight budget and refuse to buy a weapon as common as a G36. What would you recommend that's different but has a similar price tag?

Here's my idea; the XM8 has an interesting history. It was an attempt to sell the G36 to the Americans who unfortunately dint want to replace the M4. I'd recommend finding a bone-yard SRC XM8 and replacing the internals with a G36. You'll probably spend a little more money but in the end you will get a gun you will love and that's all that matters.

plastic quality is about a 6. Build quality about 5. Really not an impressive gun by any means. Equal to the JG G36 as far as overal quality.

If you want, I've got a G36 that you can take off my hands in a trade. PM me if interested.

My only experiences with XM8's are negative, but who knows; with an overhaul, you could really do anything. As long as you like the feel of them...
