Need a New M4

Postby 1SGT.Reaper » Sat May 03, 2014 9:23 am

So at the Swamp the other weekend my M4 finally broke, finally found a weakness with my gun. The outer barrel is not free floating and screws into the upper hand guard, well I took a pretty decent fall at the game and needless to say I snapped the screws holding the barrel and the hand guard together. So it may sound like an easy fix, but I have been looking for a reason to upgrade forever and this is it. I am wondering in this community's experience what is the best M4 for between $250-350? I have been looking around and seen some good looking guns, but I am very tight with my cash. I don't like to throw a lot out at something I don't know a lot about. So any help is welcome, and if you cannot point out one to get point out the ones to stay away from. Thank you for all your help.

In the upper end of that price range, I would suggest the KWA RM4. It has amazing electric recoil( was not a fan of electric recoil at all, till I shot this gun). It will also work with any m4 mag, but does have it's own mid caps that are adjustable from 30 rd to 60rd, and when using these mags the gun will not fire on empty.(the non fire on empty only works with these mags). The gun feels very nice in the hands, and everybody knows about KWA quality. It also has the quick change spring system. There is a long version(around 390-400 FPS) and a cqb version(350fps). If you take the spring from the long version, and put it in the cqb version, you now get outdoor type FPS, and the recoil is even stronger.
I alsmost bought one because I fell in love with it, but I need another gun like I need a hole in the head. I'm not easily impressed with most replicas, but I was very impressed with this one.

I had a great time with my KWA's also. I had the standard AEG's. I bought one, then a second one a year later. Played for 3 years with them before they started to have serious issues--gearboxes and what not. But, in their defense, I was running 11.1's and was never known for being light on the trigger. One of my team mates referred to my use as "using it like a mini-SAW." 3-4,000 BB's a day, I think.

So, yeah, anyway--the KWA AEG models are nice, too. I'm told that the cheaper series with the plastic body has the same internals. That might make a good, lower price gun?

My favorite M4 based gun has been my G&P Defender. I bought it about 4 years ago and it's still running today. I've never opened the GB, just threw a TBB and bucking in it and called it good. It's my goto M4 and loaner gun since it always works.

I've had a couple small cosmetic issues with it. The dummy selector plate fell out and part of the lower got chipped which made the mag catch not work. Some JB weld fixed that problem and it's been fine since.

I've seen them pop in and out of stock overseas and at Evike.

They are towards the top end of your price range, but entirely worth it. Everything it comes with it is great (esp the optic), the TD vert grip is a bit wonky, but it works just fine. I ditched that along with the KAC sights cause I didn't care for them.

Me and my son have a few DYTAC. There are built solid and fire very accurate. We run 11.1 lips out of box and they shoot in 360 to 380 range. Have had for over a year and they have had no problems besides just regular cleaning. The only us seller is Thunder kiss nw in Vancouver. Right now all there water transfer guns $100 off. Theses range from 270 to 320 depending on options.

My son and I have a pair of Dytacs as well. Mine is a first generation, and the only problem I've had was a mech box crack after heavy use in VERY cold weather. Ive put well over 150,000 rds through it, virtually problem free, with minimum maintenance( 1 bucking replacement, and barrel cleaning).
My sons has had some issues, but Thunderkiss has done a good job of making sure I was taken care of, and happy.
We also run both of our Dytac's on 11.1's, and we run them hard. They shoot extremely well, and on an 11.1, we get around 25 rds per second, and effective range around 190-200 ft.We shoot at a tree that's 171' from my front door(measured with a Nikon range finder),and bb's hit the tree just before the hop-up kicks in.

I agree, VFC makes amazing stuff, but may be a bit out of his budget. The VFC 416 is sooo sexy!

Yes, build YOUR own opinion. Listen to what others tell you. Is YZ "butt hurt" and has an agenda? Maybe.

You, sir, DO have an agenda as the "only us seller".

Also, you can't tell people to shut up. You're not a mod. So bugger off.

This is getting off topic.
But yes he has an agenda.
As for us being the only us seller, that's incorrect.
We distribute, as well as sell.

They are a good platform, shoot them and you will see.
That's all I'm saying.
We have the best pricing in the NW for airsoft gear.
And now we offer the best indoor experience for our great community.

Thank you guys for all your help, I am reluctant to go with Dytac not because of people's opinions. But because up until now I have never heard of the brand, and so I'm leaning more the KWA or G and P route.

Dytacs are complete and utter GARBAGE, and it's a fact.

So Thunderkiss, tell us how many Dytacs have come back "for repair"? Right. GARBAGE.

Here ya go, this is what's gonna burn Thunderkiss...

http://www.lni.wa.gov/claimsins/fraudco ... efault.asp

Just a couple items taken from the page...

Pays workers in cash and doesn't give them any kind of payroll stub.
Gives workers a 1099 form instead of the standard W-2.
Pays workers other than in cash or check, by such things as free rent, reimbursement of expenses, barter, etc.
Does not maintain or report complete and accurate employee payroll information.
Pays workers on a piece work basis and does not record hours.

Out of 13 bullet points of potential fraud by an employer, Thunderkiss qualifies for 5 of them.

Now, Thunderkiss, why don't YOU shut YOUR SUCK HOLE.

My Agenda is to not let someone get suckered by your greedy, fraudulent agenda of ripping people off.
