Anyone have any experience with the 417?

Postby Eclipzed » Fri Sep 05, 2014 1:05 am

Job and life are starting to stabilize a bit, and looking to get back into airsoft. I have been out of the game for a while, and looking to start a new loadout, and ditch a lot of my old loadouts.

Is what I am wondering is, has anyone had any experiences with the UMAREX HK 417? Or does anyone know of any other decent 417's out there?

Just looking for a general idea on it, and if you think its a decent weapon or not. Or a link to a review that maybe I have missed.

Thanks for any help.

The Umarex / VFC HK417 are excellent. Good performance, reliable, but they use a number of proprietary parts, so while gears, motor, piston are easy to replace, hop-up and air nozzle are more unique.

They're well built and very cool, but since you HAVE to buy HK417 mags, it's a more limited platform.

I was able to use a Systema bore-up kit on this gun, and it seems to work just fine; however, the gearbox is unusual. It's like an extended v2 that splits into three parts. Selector plate is proprietary, and the trigger mech is just unnecessary. All in all a good gun, VFC makes exquisite externals, but mags are very expensive. I don't know if anyone that makes a 417 other than VFC.

Thanks for the input guys. Making me more excited about it. I love the look of the weapon. I plan on using it in more of an assault/battle rifle setup then DMR setup. DMR doesn't really interest me.

Weapon must be fairly new, I'm not seeing a whole lot of stuff for it.
