Miracle Barrel + Maple Leaf RTX flat hop-nub. Anyone?

Postby Akalon » Sat Sep 06, 2014 12:02 am

Looking to make a DMR with these two combined parts, plus some high-heat spring and gearset parts; however, I don't know if these two things work together. I found a hardcore gearbox that will handle the 500+ fps that I would like to put in it, but I am unsure if there are many pistons that will take that kind of beating for long.

Sorry if the opening post is too ambiguous. I am asking about the MB + RTX, and about a piston that will handle an m150 spring.

Miracle barrel is extremely overrated. Get a PDI, Prometheus, or Core barrel. You will have much better results, and it'll be more consistent to boot.

Any data (ballpark or otherwise) to give me? I used to have a Promy in my SCAR-H, and it was amazing. I'm drawn to the miracle barrel because it's a new idea, or rather, it's not just a barrel like all the others, with slightly better machining.

It's not a new idea. It's an old idea recycled. There are old pre hop-up AEG barrels that used similar principles, and there have been some Japanese airgun shooters using similar techniques for a while.

Much of the 'Miracle Barrel's performance gains in testing seem to come from the insert that goes into the barrel.

ASM has some reviews where they largely found the Miracle barrel to be overrated:

At the very least, there's so much controversy over it that it's going to be something of a risk, for a very expensive barrel. PDI 01 RAVEN+ and a flat hop, or just an ER-hopped barrel would probably give you similar results for a lot cheaper.

I tried the ER hop patch and I couldn't get it to work properly. I'm still a newb with a lot of teching. I think I will try the miracle much later on and if it doesn't work, then I'm sure I'll find someone who will buy it. For now I think a 6.03 Promy and the RTX will do nicely.

On another subject, do you know of anyone with experience with Siegetek Gears and shimming?
