+1
TSD or UTG L96 with upgrade kit = good enough to start.

The VSR clones are harder to pull and more expensive to upgrade because they start off with weaker internals.

Or put a 4x scope on your KWA and use semi. The satisfaction of sniping is watching the plastic fly to the target and hearing the "THUD".

$100 is going to get you nowhere with the weapon. Better to spend that same money on a standard length tightbore for your current M4, and a standard length outer barrel. If you want to learn to be a sniper, stop obsessing about the weapon.

Put some research, and time into the art of concealment. What camo's work best where...how to build a ghillie,...to ghillie or not...half or whole...vegging your ghillie etc. Concealment.

Learn to move quietly, slowly, and in places where nobody else wants or will go! Field craft.

True sniping is less about the weapon, and more about concealment and field craft. Master these two things, and the weapon is really secondary. IMO.

I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

My friend has an ASR (its the odd looking one with the M4 stock, right?)
He put the upgrade kit in it, it works pretty well. Not as well as my other friend's upgraded BAR 10, but I think more money was put in the Bar 10 than the ASR.

my two cents on the topic (ok... it turned out to be a few bucks in change)

I went with the TSD700. For the money(70 bones?), it turned out to be a great rifle for me. My gun is stock, however i have spent hours "tuning" my gun with the usual popular mods. (hop-up shimming, teflon this and that, film canister mod, ect..) I put a low fix power BSA I had sitting around and fed it some of AONW tan .40 bb's. Shoots straight, and far enough for the field I play on. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised by how this gun has performed.

There are going to be a lot of people telling you that you HAVE to spend your life savings on a sniper rifle to get more than a hunk of junk. But you have to consider who those players are that sometimes come across as preaching their opinions as if they are truths. Those players are usually pretty serious into the game and need a serious rifle to be successful where they play.

So, how serious are you about airsoft? How often do you play? How well do you need your gun to perform to be successful where you play?

I probably airsoft a handful of times a year. And for me the TSD is great. I would say if you have to stick to a budget of 100 bones, one of the Gspec clones will suit you well.

I play Almost every weekend out of the year, and a lot of the times on holidays. i am getting pretty serious about airsoft, enough to want a second gun. I will also need my gun to perform at ranges up to 225-250 for a lot of our games. Any suggestions on the gspec clone since jg is banned?
