Nubs for snipers

Postby Mongrol » Sun Nov 21, 2010 7:45 pm

So I have a madbull 6.03 tightbore and the ASR upgrade kit in my rifle. After dialing in the scope I have pretty good groupings but every third shot is just a random flyer. I noticed there was no nib in the hop up. Just te lever arm. It's looked like it didn't need a nib though as I could see it pushing down into the barrel. Do I need a nub or is it not supposed to have one? Next would be can it be just a standard nub or H nub or does are there specific nuns for snipers?
It's a utg l96.
Thanks

are you looking for a nub, nib or nun? I'm confused.

If you're looking for a NUB, then I dont believe you need one because the L96 already has a V or H hop on the hopup arm. There are mods that you can find on the internet that will allow you to use hop nubs of various kinds and help straighten your shooting.
Have you looked to see if the lever arm used to have posts where nubs *used* to be on it? (as in |__|, but now it's ___ )

Sorry, using iPhone and it auto corrects nub to nuns everytime. Yes there is H notch on the arm. I didn think I needed one but I had to turn it all the way up to have any effect on a .32g bb so I wasn't sure.
Thanks.

yeah nubs are great for snipers.

I suggest the polar star concave spacer.

I agree with Riddick - I have heard great things about the Polar Star concave nub, and plan on getting one myself as soon as I am able to.
One of my teammates uses it and he gets phenomenal shots.

My VSR-10 and KJW M700 DO NOT use nubs in the hop up systems. I would be willing to say that the 96 series also does not use a nub style system.

For some reason I thought this thread was about noob snipers, not nubs for sniper rifles...

If the hop up arm looks like that (the black part), than you DO NOT NEED A NUB.

That's what I have, thanks jester. While I'm here instead of starting a new topic, ASGI has a few barrel spacers available that look bice but my sniper came with three foam ones, will it make any difference if I get the ones on ASGI?

It could. Some people swear by spacers, some don't. I made my own, and didn't really notice a difference. But my barrel was supported by the endcap, so it wasn't moving anyways. Supposedly wrapping electrical tape around the barrel for a spacer works great.

Edit: Half the fun of having a bolt action rifle is getting to tinker with it. I've torn mine down more times than I can count. I know exactly how everything fits together and how it works. I have it set up perfectly for me. Bolt actions require intimate knowledge of how they work by their handler to be properly utilized.
