L96 upgrades... again.

Discussion about sniper rifles or bolt-action.

L96 upgrades... again.

Postby B.O.P. Hawk » Tue Jan 25, 2011 9:57 pm

I don't know how many other time this topic has shown up, but in all my browsing I could not find any info on L96 springs.
I have all of the upgrades in my gun anyone would need, yet it only shoots at 410-ish FPS. I want more power.

The current power spring I have is 130sp, so I figured I would go up to 170sp, but I cannot find one for sale anywhere (in stock).

So far i have accidentally purchased two vsr-10 springs and neither of them have fit into my piston...
A little help would be appreciated.

right. They also say the 130sp will make it shoot 430, but it shoot 407 with a 6.01

That's because you have bad compression. Take the rifle apart down to the point so that you have the cylinder and trigger group in and the upper receiver still together, cycle the bolt and put your finger over the nozzle and push hard. Pull the trigger. If the piston moves then you need a new o-ring or the cylinder head isn't sealed properly.

Replace the o-ring if it is hissing from there, if it is the cylinder head then use Teflon tape (plumbers tape) and wrap a strip around the cylinder head.

If the piston doesn't move and you have perfect compression there, then you have a leak between the cylinder head and hop up rubber.

Edit: also if you put in a harder spring you will need new sears or a Z-trig

Make it air tight. get a new cylinder, piston, piston head and just about everything that has to do with the air flow.

You don't need to buy upgrade parts to achieve 100% compression. Also these bolts don't have a separate piston head-it's all one piece.

Agreed! All the work is done here. I will make my presence and leave. Like showing up to the scene after a really intense party.

Compression is good, it goes very slow.
I have an aftermarket sear set in the gun already.
Cylinders and piston cost more than I'm willing to spend, the Cylinder mainly. Im concerned that the 150sp wont get me max power, and I'll end up spending more money later on.

It shouldn't move at all. If it does then you have a leak. I was able to get mine not to move fairly easy. Until then you will see inconsistencies in the fps and will take away from your accuracy and range even if you have a harder hitting spring.

The misconception is that you need higher fps, when you should be trying to attain the most consistency possible.

Note that the M170 spring is a larger diameter than the stock spring and will not fit in the stock piston. You have to buy an upgraded piston for the upgraded spring to fit.

I have nothing to add to this thread, but neither did this guy. Does anyone else find it amusing that a 17-year-old who says his location is "his mom's house" find this amusing?

Go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Then we'll talk about intense parties.
