A&K Dragunov SVD Questions.

Discussion about sniper rifles or bolt-action.

I have done some looking around and it seems that people are so varied in the spring sniper rifle choices... If I did decide to get this I would upgrade the barrel to a prometheus for around 70, then maybe add a spring, but only if it would increase range and accuracy, both of which I believe are covered by the tight bore barrel.

My next question is this:

In total I am looking at spending 200, 115 for the SVD, and 70+ for the barrel, and possibly spring/trigger sear. For under 200.00 USD, is there another gun that would exceed the SVD's durability, range, accuracy, and sexy looks? I am more focused on functional/practical use than looks. I would prefer it if only those who have matched a rifle they propose against the SVD, not just random posts that state that the SVD sucks, or another rifle ROCKS!
please, from experience and matching against the SVD, please be kind enough to reply.

-Geoffrey.

200 total? until you are willing to spend a couple hundred and a few dozen hours into a sniper rifle, instead of one or two hundred bucks. save the breath and get a good AK with the 200$ you have

This will be my first sniper rifle, I am not willing to delve into this more than 200 for something I am just trying out, I believe that is understandable.
Please refrain from referring rifles that are not spring powered sniper rifles.

you asked for opinions, i gave it. just because the answer is not what you want does not mean i have to go understand why people have to go cheep for a platform that requires a lot of money and fine tuning.

if you're just trying out a bolt position you can see if there is anyone willing to rent you a gun for a game or check out the classified ads for one that have upgrades and fits your budget.

Well you did ask about other Dragunovs on the market so...

Quite different from the Real Sword SVD. Not really even comparable in quality. But that's another story (and price tag).

And it's also spring powered. Although there's a motor that pulls back the spring...

That will be a good starting platform that you can easily build on. And like you say, you'll only be out two hundred if its not your bag, minus what you can sell the gun for. You are on the right track :)

I read a little chatter in another question on this, but the answers didn't seem very definitive, thus:

Is there a difference between the SVD on Airsoft GI and the
Matrix SVD on Evike?

What is this? SSR? Is this just a rebrand of the SVD? only a 30 round mag?

Anyone know anything about this?

Is the third through sixth words in the title of the product, so I doubt it's a re-brand.

well let me get in on this question post. I actually have been looking at the svd for a while! i have just been a bit wary on a few thing. first, is their replacement internal components( trigger/sear sets, pistons, and cylinders). second is what mounts will work for them, a buddy of mine got one of the CA scopes, and it did not work. so just a scope mount, i already have a scope i am pretty satisfied with. thanks for the help.
