AKs have spots for the batteries in both the top and stock.

Most full stock AKs are wired to the stock because they allow for a larger celled NiMH/NiCd battery. Like I said, with the proliferation of LiPo batteries, that's not an issue any more because you can get higher voltages from smaller batteries.

Sorry the place i was looking must be wrong, and dont judge a book by its cover.

I judged you by your thought process of turning an AK into a DMR.

If you complete the Tabuk project, I'll give you some credit. Also, why not leave it under 400 and have the ability to rake people with full auto?

I suggest you figure out whether what you really want is a long gun or higher FPS. You can and probably should do the upgrade in stages. I'm not personally convinced that there is much advantage to a longer riffle.

If you take Cloudyrain's Dragunov, make sure to only use it for the outer barrel. The handguard and stock are both wrong for a Tabuk (and flimsy because of shite QC) and the internals are hopeless crap. If you want to be extra anal-retentive about accuracy, tear off the bipod because real Tabuks don't have one. You could also look for shorter style AK mags.

My SVD is in pieces, so I would have no problem parting it out. The bipod on the SVD fell off a long time ago so you wouldn't have to go to a lot of trouble removing it. Only problem I see is the barrel potentially not fitting the receiver. All you would need to do is slap the barrel in, dremel/band saw out the stock, and boom, tabuk.

The VFC, TM, also hold batteries in the stock as well as others I'm sure.

Even so no one says you have to put a battery in the stock, or even in the gun. See that picture of the Tabuk up there? It's got a mag pouch. you could put a battery in one of those.

If you're gonna do an M76 the barrel is 4cm shorter than the RPK's. Not too much of a difference in my opinion.

The some of the G&Gs and VFCs has replica bolts, so can't fit batteries up there.

Why? Lots of people have done it. The M76 and Tabuk are perfect examples.

Because how many kids are going to do it right? The M76 doesn't shoot an AK round, the Tabuk is a great example, though.

Doesn't shoot an AK round, but looks like an AK. If you can deal with the mag you're set. The rest is easy.

True, but the direction I gathered this thread was headed was "I want an AK that shoots 450-475."

I don't trust a 14 year old to not shoot people in the face from 10 feet away with his shiny new DMR.
