? about sniper barrel size

Postby Cyclops » Tue Feb 05, 2013 8:11 am

Been reading a bunch on what brand and size of barrels you should use on your sniper gun. I'm confused a little about a lot of people are against a 6.01 and they highly recommend the 6.03, 6.05 and one guy mention he likes the 6.08 (which I didn't know they made). In my thoughts you would want the 6.01 due to tighter grouping and more air pressure behind your Bbs. I'm playing around with several sniper guns and just curious as well if it is also better to have longer barrels? My projects are with the CA M24, APS M40, Bar-10, and an Echo1 M28. I know it's alot to play with but one gun is a friends and I have a lot of time on my hands to do small projects.....

6.01's offer the best performance, but get clogged or jammed. Most AEG users get the 6.03's because the negligible difference in performance doesn't attract many to make the jump between .03 and .01.

The barrel length improves accuracy a slight amount; more important is matching the barrel to the porting on the cylinder.

I just saw a website this week that was selling something like 6.15 barrels and larger. The thinking was something like an air cushion around the bb to give it accuracy. They were damn expensive.

I would say barrel quality makes a much bigger difference than diameter. I switched from a madbull 6.03 to a laylax 6.05 and got much better results, despite it being one of the cheaper laylax product lines.
