Pistol build

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

Pistol build

Postby Merchant » Mon May 23, 2011 1:58 pm

I'm a considering a new build with a gas pistol as a base. I am looking to put in a 6.01 TBB and run a silencer on it so the barrel can be fairly long.

Right now I am looking at the KWA USP tactical as it is made for a silencer, but I am at a little bit of a loss for a barrel. Will a VSR style barrel work for a KWA USP?

Let me know what you think. I would prefer a KWA as a base as I hear they have excellent customer service- as far as the specific model, my preferences run, USP and 1911.

--Thanks guys!

KWA has said that their GBB guns were not designed to be use with a suppressor... The smallest amount of extra weight on the front end of the outer barrel pulls the barrel down and causes extra wear on the slide and unwanted pressure to various other parts.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but I'm telling you have I have heard.

As for barrel, I believe any "universal" cut barrel should fit into the KWA GBB, but this is a good question for the techs at Airsoft Outlet.

Google might be your friend, but a phone call can give you more information quicker, if you know who to call...

And the KWA USP has 16mm threads, making your supressor options limited and difficult to find (and $$$).

While you stated your after a USP or 1911 clone, I'd consider an M9. Since the barrel doesn't tilt, it'll put less stress on the gun, and WE makes a threaded barrel with an extended Madbull TBB combo dealie for $40

One thing that sucks about it, is although it looks the same as a TM or KJW barrel, its just slightly different, and it has a different hop-up style compared to both. I've tried filing to get it to fit, but to no avial. I've shelfed it for now...

if you are having issues with a hop up channel on your TBB then what you need to do is contact seagreen and he can custome cut the correct channel for your hop up.....and if your nice he might do a barrel crown and polish with the job.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Or just use it as an excuse to get a gold plated WE M9 ;)
