will this work?

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

will this work?

Postby TheGonz » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:25 pm

Will a KJW Sig 229 work with out the outter barrel? The part in question, #16 on the exploded diagram. Will it still, cycel, or just " blow up" in my hand?
Lets be honest, when the K9 is used all you have is a, head start, not a chance to get away.

The outer barrel stabilizes and houses the inner barrel...

The answer is no. It will not work at all without an outer barrel.

Out of curiousity, I took my outer barrel off of my M1911, It fired but terrible accuracy. It wouldnt really be worth using.

They're the same gun, but the 229 is longer. Right? If that's the case, and they're both from the same company, the 229 barrel will likely work in a 226 body.

Well if i find one for a 226 and " carefully" cut off the extra it should work, In theory right? Or should i try it on the broken one first?

I think it'll work fine. The important part of the outer barrel is the stability for the inner barrel and the fact that it holds the inner barrel in place, often it is directly involved in the action of the weapon.

You guys are mixed up with your guns. The 229 is the compact version of the 226. A 226 outer barrel in a 229 would just stick out a little, and in my opinion look pretty cool. I've handled the real steel, and if memory serves me good I think that should be right.
