KWA M226 vs KJW P226

Postby Goliath17 » Wed Aug 01, 2012 12:14 pm

I have decided between two GBB pistols, both SIGs, I just want to know if the KWA is worth the extra $30
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

Yeah, you also can't be a KWA fanboy if you're not following brand loyalty.

i have the kwa 226 and here is a list of cons ive found so far

Rear sight gets loose after gun cycles alot
Doesnt fire last round (slide locks back) sometimes
slide doesnt lock back after last round is fired
If you fire to fast the gun goes to double action and the hammer sticks up (somtimes)

other than that the gun is phenominal, the range is superb, if you work with it a shot at 165 ft you can hit a man sized target, everything is superb on it and it hasnt failed me i would go with the KWA, much better build and gun and worth the extra 30 bucks

My M226 has been a POS since I got it. Numerous parts have broken. The blow back chamber has broken 3 times. The magazine lips have failed now 2 times. The takedown lever broke.

I also have one of the very first (if not THE first) generations of the gun. I'll sell you mine for $120. Just needs a magazine (or fixing the magazine it currently has).

Don't buy the KWA P226. A lot of people experience issues with them, myself included. I've only been able to put around 500 rounds through my P226, but it has already gone to the KWA RMA department 3 times. Its a flawed design, stay away.

But, to not waste your time:

PS: The trigger just feels wrong on the KWA, and the outer barrel extending past the slide destroys the entire P226 look. I personally own a KJW, KWA and TM P226; save your money and buy the TM.

Yeah, now that I have been doing some research on it, I have decided against the P226 and I have decided to get the KWA M9 PTP.

Had the KJW p229. The paint was iffy (too shiny) but it worked pretty well. Shots were on target out to about 125. A nice recoil to each shot, the mags fed and held gas really well. It also fit into a Real Steel Sig holster without any problems so that was nice.

P.S had the same thought about KWA vs KJW. Keep in mind if you buy new, KWA has that nice 45 day warranty.

All of this. The KJW 226 is okay, but no where near as good as the TM. I have a TM that belonged to Millwe (which is like 7 years old) and it's still going strong in its stock state.

what do you have to do to maintain the TM 226? my kwa 226 is stupid, it works perfect then i load it up and go to a game and gas it and then a hour later pull it out of my holster and pew, doesnt cycle, lube it, clean it, lube gas, try green gas, lube and clean more, pew, doesnt cycle, if it does it doesnt cycle 2nd shot, furious, get home, sleep, morning, fill it up and it shoots alall 25rds no problem on target WTF

Well, it's like any other GBB.

Lube it once and a while, clean it occasionally, and most importantly, use duster gas. Although the newer TM's might be able to use Green Gas right out of the box.

The TM P226 should be able to take green gas. I know of three heavy users that use straight Green.

@Viper - Sounds like your mag might be slowly leaking gas, if the gun stops working correctly an hour into a game, but works fine immediately after your charge.

The only problem I had with my KWA P226 is the front and back sight both got loose but get a metal to metal bonding agent and you're set to go. Other than that my P226 is pretty solid, dropped it in fine sand at Trade Winds by accident and got all sandy. Disassembled it and ran compressed air over it and it was fine.
