Boots

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

Go with Danners or go check out REI. A lot of the guys here frown upon hiking boots, but I have used them for years in airsoft...and hey, lots of guys have been using them overseas in the sandbox for years.

Asolos, Merrels, Lowas are all great.

And I highly doubt that the majority of Danners are made in China...the ones that are made for the military at least have to be made in the US (Berry Compliant).

I didn't look closely before ordering these, and apparently the "TFX" boots by Danner are Chinese made.

They're still high quality, just I feel guilty for wearing Chinese boots I thought were US made.

I stand corrected...I am sure if you buy the ones that are issued they will be US made however.

On their website under "Features" you can select US Made to make sure you're not viewing Chinese boots.

Live and learn right?

I have a pair of Danner Acadias that I have been wearing since I was 15.
They are brown, but started out black
I've gone through a dozen sets of laces
but over 8 years of wear, they just look a bit wrinkled.

I've had really good luck with my Danner Acadias.

I just recently picked up a pair of Oakley 8" SI Assault boots (Danner has my size in Acadias backordered through March). I've been pretty impressed with them so far. Very comfy, lighter than my Danners. They did just fine keeping my feet warm and dry in the rain and snow here and in Colorado for a week. They do tend to run about a half-size big, though. So go to one of the Oakley stores and try them on before buying them.

The tan ones were $175 retail. Not sure about the black ones, but I would guess they would be pretty close to that.
