Pelican Cases + MOLLE Straps?

Postby Matt » Tue Jan 05, 2010 11:52 am

So, I see that Pelican cases are used for a lot of military purposes, at least that's what it seems like from Pelican's web site. I'm trying to a way to attach a pelican case to a modular vest, so I can carry expensive equipment without the fear of crushing it. There have been so many times when I'm in the perfect position to get some really awesome footage at an event - it would be awesome to just be able to pull the camera after I get hit and grab some footage.

My initial thought was to stuff it into a condor backpack and call it good - but it seems like there's gotta be a more efficient way. Any search on google seems to only yield results of website who sell both Pelican cases and combat gear, but none of them combined.

It would have to at least accommodate a Pelican 1450 at 14.62" x 10.18" x 6.00". Is there any way around this, aside from having to have something custom made?

You could JBweld some Bladetech Molle-Loks or a rotating Tech-lok to the Pelican case, or screw it on if your not concerned about water entering the case.

Why not get a padded camera pouch?

Or sticking the pelican in another pouch?

Or, take out the foam and drill a couple holes through the case and attach some MALICE clips via screws (RR mentioned potential waterproofing issues...there are plenty of ways you could seal those holes but even then I dont think it would be a large issue unless you went for a swim)

Had you asked a couple weeks ago I could of had my buddy here in Germany make you a custom case with any specifications on the cheap. He works for ProCase.

Unfortunately I'm getting on a plane back to the states in about 14 hours.

I don't know about the Pelican bit, but I saw that Tactical Tailor has a line of hard cases with MALICE clips built in on the back that sound pretty nice. Maybe not what you are looking for, but maybe it will help someone who reads this thread in the future.

that is the camera he is using, he needs something significantly bigger than most commercial cases, and if it were my camera, it would have to be bomb proof not just padded
I DID NOT INVENT THE INTERNETS FOR THIS

just get the pelican case you want drill some holes, and mount the malice or other clips, placing some 15 cent rubber washers under the screw heads to waterproof it. you wont be deep sea diving in this thing right :D
