1 BASIC GEAR KIT FOR MULTIPLE SOF IMPRESSIONS (MIL-SIM)

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

Postby Snowman » Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:57 am

Well, the guy I talked to said this is basically what they are required to carry:

Mags (have)
Comms (have comms, need pouch, any old MBITR pouch will do)
Water (In charge pouch)
IFAK (have)

Plus the random SAW pouch for junk and CAT on the back, as well as some means of IFF, be it the admin pouch or the velcro on the sleeves. He also said that they *sometimes* carry packs for those extended missions, but they're based out of a FOB most of the time, so there is sometimes no point. In the case that they do need a pack, it's either a MAP or random 3-day pack, which I have, if you want a pic with that.

Nope, not a G&P, DD EZXV. ;) My M4 was down for work so it could look like this (needs moar crane stock):

Forgive the brown ACOG, I've also seen those on issued weps. I just tossed it on there so as not to cry. :(

Well that's for a Ranger impression.

Ranger Recon use RRVs though and SEALs don't always use armor.

But Ranger Recon also wear full kit loadouts like SF, as do SEALs, so if we're looking for the best SOF universal impression, it'd be a chest loaded out with more 2-mag pouches, an MBITR pouch, knee pads (I still see more SOF with knee pads than Crye. Probably because the crye knee pads fall out when you're low crawling)

Other guy I talked (Ranger) to said that "rhodesians" haven't been used in years, be it for scout, regular, or recon troops. :/

Did he mention what type of chest rigs, if any, are used, then? Or are they mostly running a myriad of different lightweight armor combo are stand-alone carriers, rather than chest rigs?

Curious as to what's the latest.

I saw Ranger Recon guys wearing them at RSLC (Recon & Surveillance Leaders Course) a year ago at Ft. Benning.

One guy I talked to said he just ordered a custom plate carrier in OCP/Multicam from BDS Tactical, he didn't say which model though. I can ask him about it, but it might just be his unit's SOP to allow it.

Darius, he also said they haven't used ACUs in years, because of the change to Multicam, but there are also plenty of pics of them wearing them in training, so it might have just been for training. Iono though. :/

Figured I'd revive this;

Many may not know, because they either might not care or follow what gear units use, but a lot of SOF guys are switching to the Eagle MBAV in MJK (khaki). Whether it's widely issued or found with a couple guys is irrelevant, as it is being used. It's been seen in use by;
- US Army SF (Green Berets)
- US Army Rangers
- US Navy SEALs
- MARSOC
- USAF Pararescue jumpers
- USAF CCTs

Keep in mind, some of those units use the MBAV in khaki much more widely than others, for example it's seeing widespread use with Army SF, Rangers, and MARSOC, but very limited use with the SEALs and AFSOC units. However, it can work for impressions, so if you want a kit that would work with multiple impressions, a khaki MBAV is a good way to go. For example my khaki MBAV rig works for my MARSOC, SEAL, and Army SF impressions, and I can make it work for a PJ impression with a bit of tweaking.

Shot Matt a message asking for them, since his camera was used. I'll toss them up on the Specdet forum if he has them.

Planning on it, my guys have loved coming down for these things. Only problem is making the time and finding the gas money. Living 6 hours from Portland is a bitch.
