Plate carrier care

Postby JoKeR1147 » Sat May 19, 2012 1:50 am

Is there a proper or improper way to store a plate carrier? Usually I just remove the plates from my EPC and let it lay on its back, I was recently told this is wrong. Is there some special way I should be storing my vest to better take care of it? Additionally is it necessary to wash your vest after every use? It seems like this would be highly impracticable in the field so I was just wondering what the common consensus is on plate carrier maintenance.

There's no reason to remove your plates when you store it. If you have real soft armor in your EPC, then yes, you want to lay it flat to keep it in prime condition. Otherwise, it doesn't matter how it sits. I usually just leave it in my gear bag till the next game.
