A Question About Glove Sizes

Postby $tealth » Mon Jul 02, 2012 4:21 pm

How do they measure glove sizes? I need some new ones (I have some fingerless JT Paintball gloves right now) and I've found some I like online but I can't tell whether they will fit my hands or not because there is no size chart.
Do I just have guess the size and hope they'll fit or get some other ones that they have at Outlet or somewhere?

Mechanix Gloves are the bomb. This is their sizing chart. Follow the directions and you'll be solid. If you order just a hair too small, they'll stretch with time.

I have a pair, and they are awesome.

Thanks! I had to Google it because the link didn't work, but I got it printed out and everything.
I'm about half way between XS and S, will it be that much too big if I get the S?

Mechanix recommends you should always choose a size bigger.

There is a standard answer to this question. It should be a sticky somewhere, but isn't.

Gloves and boots are important. Don't buy them online. Go somewhere. Wear them. Test them out a little bit. Try several. Buy the ones you like.

It is worth your time. If you've never worn good boots or gloves that actually fit you, well then, you don't understand what I'm saying. Those of you that have are nodding your head and thinking to yourself, "Yeah."

Do they have Mechanix gloves at AONW? I don't think they have them at Thunderkiss and I'm not going to LA anytime soon...

EDIT: And isn't the Mechanix size chart accurate?

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure most auto parts stores sell them? I mean, they are "Mechanix" gloves, right.

Do your own research as to where this stuff is sold. Do we look like google?

At my Lowes here in McMinnville, they have 6 different pairs of Mechanix gloves, try heading to your local Lowes to try some on. Or maybe Home Depot?

I tried Google. I always try Google before posting here so I don't get shit about not Googling stuff.

I'll look at Lowe's, maybe I'll find the ones I'm looking for there. The particular pair I want to get is the M-Pact 2012 version.

What a great idea. Go someplace, find the ones you want, try them on at the store. Ask a ton of questions about them too, since there is a sales guy who (at least theoretically) knows something about the product.

And then walk out of the store and go buy them online. Make sure you let the sales guy know that you are doing this, just to be extra douchey. It makes their day.

Because this way, you are doing your part to help keep online retailers in business, and keeping your money out of local brick and mortar stores. After all, why would you want to spend money at the place that is paying the extra overhead to have them in stock where you can touch them and ask questions, when you can save a few bucks buying them online?

Steve is grumpy but right. Those extra couple dollars you're paying to the store? You're paying for their advice, for their service and their smile. I'm really big on buying online since it saves money and often time, but if you're going into a store anyway I'd pay for it. :) Good luck, kid.

The only reason I'd try them on in the store and then order them online is because I haven't been able to find the M-Pact at any stores around here. So I'd go into Lowe's and find a pair of another model that fit me, then use that size info to get the right size online. Trust me, if they had the ones I'm looking for in a store somewhere close to here, I'd go and get them.
