What are these pouches for? Tactical Pop-Tarts?

Postby The Grand Baboon » Mon Mar 11, 2013 11:21 pm

I recently purchased an unused Pantac OD 1961a from a friend.

In front of three of the four mag pouches (minus the one with pistol mag pouches) there is a small, wallet-sized pouch with a nylon strip over the top. What is supposed to fit in these pouches.

I shove TQs, multitools, BB loaders, kill rags, all kinds of stuff in there. They have no particular purpose on the 1961, unlike the radio and remote battery pouches, but they are useful.

Also why do you have your radio in a mag pouch? Why not put it in the radio pouch?

Too small. About the thickest thing that can fit in is an old Iphone 4 w/ a Magpul protective case.

Wat? You speak madness! Are you talking about the slim pouches on either flank with the bungee strip and buckle? Like what I have my AEP stuffed in?

They are listed as utility pouches. Put stuff you would utilize in them. :)

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

yes those are MBTIR pouches, and the big pouch on top of it is a remote battery pouch for extended missions. But you can use those for whatever you want, I would just think that it would be easier to have a mag in the mag pouch, and move the radio to the radio pouch to make room for it. If your radio sinks too low, toss a rag or something under it to keep it higher in the pouch.

As another recommendation the Source Kangroo reservoirs fit perfectly in the battery pouches.
