Tactical boots for impression

Postby JoKeR1147 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 5:15 pm

So I'm looking at getting a new pair of boots since my current pair of Asolos is becoming a bit threadbare. What are some good models? Right now i'm leaning towards the Merrell Sawtooths, but what are other good models worn by ODAs, SFGs or ACE/CAG?

Get whatever boots work best and feel the most comfortable for you. People shouldn't get their panties in a twist if you're boots aren't the exact same as whatever the SF guys wear. What works for some might not work for all

Is the rest of your kit 100% accurate? Don't fear the gearwhores.

Anyways, you already answered your own question about what brands/models the coolguys use.

The Marrells are awesome, I have Rocky S2V, Danner's rivot. I used the Danner's in Afghanistan, they held up through all 9 months of walking through shit canals, orchards ect. The Rocky's where confertable but didn't last to long. I have boots for the field and for normal work. Under armor makes some good ones. I would go with Marrells.
Hang it.

Merrells, Danner, Asolo, and Salomon are all being used. I'd bet good money that shit like North Face and Keen are also being used.

I'd recommend Asolo or Salomon boots, Merrell MOABs if you're on a budget.

Thanks Welshy, was hoping I could get your input. I think I've seen several 9th group members wearing MOABS, they look nice. Are there any models of Asolo or Salomon boots that your would recommend particularly? I currently am rocking the FSN 95 GTX.

Look at anything in the tactical line by Danner. If you have the time to drive down to the Portland outlet store you can get a pair of rejects for as little as $50.

A lot of us use MOABs because we also hike and backpack along with airsoft. I've got a pair of ankle MOABs and a pair of Keen Pyreness. None of us use Asolos or Salomons because MOABs are great and we can get them for cheap, but I've heard that Asolo Fugitive and Flame GTXs are good, along with Salomon Exit Peak and XA PRO.

Honestly I'd recommend going to REI (or an equivelent outdoor sports retailer) and trying on some boots, that way you can look at a lot more options than what people on here are probably using. But honestly your boots are fine, if someone gives you shit about them not being "accurate" whack them in the head.

And because I can't be too helpful cause I'm an elitist meanie, if you don't have 150% accurate boots I will come to your house and bully you with Condor, so that I can feed off your tears.

GIVE ME YOUR TEARS

Thanks again for your help weslhy, helpful as always.

Nice thing about footwear, is where you can pretty much wear what you want, bootswise. Danner, Belleville, TR, Oakley, Nike, Salomon, Merrell, Asolo, Scarpa, etc.

NGSF I used to know wore Adidas Sambas. Wear what you want for footwear.

Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid works for me! Works pretty damn well on mud, snow or on any terrain.
