Custom Ebony Handgrips for KWA 1911

Postby Infidel » Thu Aug 26, 2010 6:11 pm

Went to AONW a week back and bought a KWA Mark II 1911, beautiful gun but the plastic-feeling grips left something to be desired. So I headed over to Woodcrafters of Portland, picked up a small turning block of ebony and went to work:

Right Grip Rough Cut:

Right Grip Sanded, Detailed, and Lacquered:

Same Treatment for the Left Grip:

Finished and Installed on the Gun:

I still have a little bit of polishing to do, but it looks beautiful, let me know if any of you guys are interested, I might make more sets for the right price ;)

I think it'd look better on a black 1911, but it is hawt nonetheless.

That is awesome, you should sell those in different styles of wood/color. That ebony grip is great though!

220 I believe, but I finished it up with steel wool. I gave a the wood a "lived in" look, thus the imperfections.

Wow, that looks incredible! Not sure how I'm liking it on the tan body, but still amazing!

I've actually been wanting to do something like this when I get my 1911.
"Why do you need a GUN?!"
"To poke holes in things too far away to get with the stick."
