Sight painting

Postby quigly » Sat Feb 26, 2011 2:05 pm

So after a countless number of times pulling me 1911 out of its holster, I noticed one of the dots on the rear sight has darkened and almost worn off completely. I have been wanting to paint them all for a while with brighter colors to be more noticeable, so this seems like an appropriate time to do so. So my question is this, what kind of paint should I use? I was planing on using some model car paint, but didn't know if that would be durable enough. So im just wondering what you guys that have done this before can lend some insight into this.

Lol. I'm going to do more like red rear and a light green front.

White out works pretty well for a field-expedient (temporary) fix. Nail polish works pretty well for a longer period.

I know for a fact that cableas' sells sight paint (glow in the dark and a few colors). I'd try there.

whoops. It works though, this is certainly the stuff to get.

Putting it on my High-Capa as soon as I feel like digging it out of the safe.
