Unfortunately, neither of those will work. The first is receive-only (it's designed for scanners) [edit: I guess you could transmit with it, but I'd want to stick it on an analyzer before using it on my nice Icom radio] and the second is amateur, and designed for 430-440 Mhz.

Personally, I'd buy Larsen for your antenna. They're high-quality, local, and have GREAT customer service.

HRO doesn't stock them normally, but this will give you an idea about price. http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-000519

Spec sheet from Larsen for these: https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http ... tennas.pdf

And, straight from their website: "Can't find what you are looking for? Call 1-800-ANTENNA"

It is common knowledge.

The answer to both questions is yes. Plus, Laird does a TON of gov't RF stuff, so it'd be fairly accurate, and quite reliable. Are you able to buy direct from them, being AF?

That's the 1/2 wave antenna, which will give better gain (overall performance). They also make a 1/4 wave antenna, but that will have fairly limited performance.

Yea, that should be it. That cable/adapter will for sure take you from the radio to the antenna, and then just make sure you get the BNC version (I believe that's what I linked to, but double-check, just to make sure).

Glad I could help.
