So as many of you may already know, Danner unveiled their new light weight high speed boot, the Melee, at Shot Show 2012. Vaughn and I had a chance to check it out, and being from Portland, we love to see new Danner products.
My first impression - damn this thing is light weight. Unlike some other light weight competitors, the boot holds it's form and feels solid. It seems like something that's going to hold better out in the field, but won't be like walking around with cement blocks on your feet.
I think a lot of Airsofters are going to be interested in it, not only because it's light weight but because it comes in camo patterns we tend to geek out on. We've got Black, multicam, and A-TACS (in July). It's 100% waterproof GORE-TEX for the black boot or mesh lining for the camo patterns. And we're looking at right around $170 on the price tag.
Now, being from Portland we consider that maybe we can get factory seconds, but unfortunately this boot is made in the Vietnam factory. So it's not so likely we're going to see seconds here in Portland. However, we also had a chance to check out another light weight boot, the Rivot, which is produced right here in Portland. That might be a great option for some of you guys looking for a light boot, it's available now in tan and soon to be available in black.
