Cowboys and The gun that won the West

Postby Grounded » Fri Aug 03, 2018 9:27 pm

With MILSIM all over the place, this is a nice change of pace from the typical Delta Ranger Seal Team 0 articles I have written in the past and I am sure I can draw the attention of a certain niche here on AP. That being said lets talk Cowboy Airsoft. It may not be the 1837 Colt Paterson revolver but you can get damn close. If you are a gun aficionado or alike you are in for a treat. Today WG has announced new products to target the cowboy in all of us. WG has 2 versions of the classic Revolver, a snub nosed 2.5" inch barrel and for those man sided hombres there is a full 6" inch barrel. The catch? These bad muchachos weight just under 2 pounds and while it may not have a blowback...you can look cool loading a 6 shooter like a Range Boss 8) . Both weapons are full metal and the projectiles are propelled by CO2. I am waiting on a sample from the manufacturer for a review, once I get one I will give you a full review. That being said, I am going to go search for that elephant on the range.

Adios muchachos.

WG revolvers are nice. Glad to see a positive post on AP promoting local gunslingers. This here is a WG Revolver with the eight round modification. This mod allows the shooter to replace the manual shell loading process to loading a cap gun style clip. I also installed the Advanced Novelty Tech CO2 adapter and ran a direct line from it to my unregulated tank.

It’s a fun gun to shoot on HPA and currently use it for plinking tin cans on the land. Seems to be an unfair advantage using a revolver in normal games where your enemy has more rounds per mag, but if you can master it, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with in a showdown.

I love my WG revolver and I’m sure anyone who is interested in getting one should.

These are NOT revolvers that won the west.

These are double action revolvers modeled after the Smith and Wesson 29....better known as “Dirty Harry” revolvers. They were produced starting in 1955 and were chambered in .44 mag.

There are single action revolvers replicated in airsoft for us Cowboys....including the gun that won the west. The Colt Single Action Army also known as the “peacemaker”.

And the Smith and Wesson Schofield top break.

And the Remington new army cap and ball pistol.

Well thanks! I reread my post and I hope I dont sound like a complete jerk. But yanno honoring Cowboys and the guns that really did win the west is important. I can say quite honestly I have learned tons and tons of history through airsoft!

How cool is that!? Can’t say that with paintball....

Anyhow, Cowboy Airsoft unfortunately was not popular, so Ive been building Titanfall Airsoft stuff. Maybe after Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out? We will see interest grow in the wild west.

Yanno though? Double action Smith and Wesson pistols would be perfect for a 30’s “Roof of the World” Nepal adventure series! I still have the Yeti suit!

A good scene of a SW model 10 double action revolver during the bootleg era.
