I did. First when my red dot was turned off (the whole thing came from me working on tightening my suddenly loose RIS) I just pointed and shot. The 2nd time I had my iron sights up, but I'd never sighted them in. Hostage prolly woulda lived, but it's still not a good thing to be doing.

Third time through I stepped close and made sure I wasn't gonna hit the hostage.

I try to use both the irons and red dot, but my cheapo red dot sight can't maintain it's zero so I use irons now.

Where do holosights fall into?

It really depends on your gun, your taste, and your battlefield. Currently I am using a G&P red/green dot Aimpoint replica on my ICS M4A1. I will soon purchase a G&P NSN ACOG scope and a Hurricane 553 holosight. Those are my 3 favorite optics for assault rifles, since they look great and airsoft involves lots of eye candy. The Aimpoint is good for close range and mid range, but it lacks a zoom. The holosight is different and looks good, plus it is more advanced with the technology. The ACOG is better for mid to long range due to the 4X zoom. Overall, for best performance I'd use a 3-9X compact scope, and if they get to close a laser sight would come in handy, however some guns like M14's, you can also use the "iron" (usually steel) sights as backup since the scope mount rises above the sights. The NSN ACOG is runner up for me since it has a 4X zoom for precision mid to long range shooting, and has backup sights on top for close range.

Holosights are like fancy red-dots.

Time Proven, Field Tested. Iron Sites.

Of Course Airsoft IS a fashion show though so I guess most like slapping a RD or scope on their Gun.

Common you know thats the real reason! XD

What catagory does shooting long, full-auto bursts and firing the BB trail/arc fall in to? That is my preferred method, although I do have an ARMS Type 40 flip-up iron sight on my SPC...

Iron sights are a lot better than magnification or red dot equpment. you have no batteries to change or worries knocking the adjustment out of a scope during a battle/skirmish or a possible risk of breaking a mega dollar piece of equipment.

1.5, 2, and 4x scopes... especially ACOGs with the solid lines in them instead of the dot. Hot shit.
