Real Caps vs MidCaps

Postby k3gn3123512 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 9:53 am

I am right now still deciding what to go for. High caps are definatly out of the picture as they are unrealistic and annoying.
I am right now choosing between mid caps

120rds

and Real Caps

30rds for my M4.

I know i can get Real caps 10 for the price of 3 Mid Caps. I can get Stan dart Caps for that much too. I love realism and the full auto setting is collecting dust on my gun so ammo conservation is not a problem here. Are there any problems with Real Caps that i should be aware of.
And a final question

PMAG vs standard M4 Mag. My gun pretty much all Magpul tricked out so should i just stay with PMAG's or try the normal ones?

Airsoft Pmags do nothing more than look pretty. So like 99% of everything in life, its up to you.

I'd buy metal mid caps over real caps since they'll let you do more than real caps. If you are light on the trigger, you can just load a couple and use that all day. Or if you goto a long game, load them to capacity and never need to break for a reload.

But on the other hand. Having a gazillion mags on you does look kinda cool. :D

I think i might step away from the PMAG's and try some nice metal ones.

You could also go for the happy medium with standard mags 68rds.

If you're going for realism, as it seemed with your first post, then having more than 10 mags on you MAX is going to totally defeat that purpose. In the real world, mags are a lot heavier then they are in airsoft, and people tend to carry fewer on their person.

I'd personally go for some nice metal midcaps, or Star ones. Star makes 85 round midcaps for a few bucks more than the lowcaps; which you van use for any situation. If you need lowcaps, you can load them to 34 rounds to account for the loss of 4 rounds (making normal lowcaps actually 26 round mags, not 30), and if you're out in some hose-fest, load them to max and kill away.

85rds seem appealing. That is pretty balanced, i might actually go for those.

The color looks too bright of a gray. For my taste at least.

I was just kidding about carrying 10 mags. I don't have enough space for that in my vest.

I like my midcap PMAG's as it gives me the versatility of either loading 120 or 30 bb's.

Sorry to threadjack, but does anybody know if there's speed loaders that load exactly 30 rounds?

Nope I have yet to see those. I do know that my speed loader injects 3 BB's at a time so i just press it 11 times to get 29rds.

1 times will get my 33 and with 4 bb's being ejected from my mag it calculates out pretty much to that.
I like my PMAG too but difference is nice.

Most speedloaders have fill lines for 30, 60, and 90 rounds. it's an estimated amount, but that's the closest I've seen. Well, there are the 30 round stick loaders, but those are cumbersome, annoying, and hard to find.

Pmags are lighter and have better grip really... But I'd say get some MAG 190rd midcap or S arms 160rd midcaps.

I prefer midcaps, you have the option to load real capacity or full. If you got the money go for the metal ones.

If you are not on a tight budget go for G&P 130rd mags. I still have yet to find a better looking/fitting/feeding midcap mag and they will look great in your magpul setup with next to 0 wobble

I use real caps in my G3. And after my first game I can say I'd like some mid caps too. 200 rounds goes by really fast, even on semi. I would say go for mid caps because they seem to come in metal more than real caps, and then you can reload it to just 30 if you are feeling like going realistic. I'm going to stick to real caps because I'd rather just drop my magazines then worry about a drop pouch most of the time. And losing a real cap isn't as bad as losing a mid cap.
