Gear search

Postby SuperSneak » Mon Feb 15, 2010 3:14 pm

I'm going to be buying a new DBOY Kalash AK74U Full Metal Airsoft AEG. What i'm trying to do is get a small light gun and I want some gear that is also light and will allow me to stay mobile, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.

How many magazines are you planning on rolling, and what camo you planning on using? I would say to get one of these, or one of these. Or if you are more on the vest side of things, one of these.

I recommend the H-Harness and Battle belt from ASGI. Very light, I use it and I love it.

I will be wearing od camo. I hadn't thought of wearing converse before, i'm somewhat partial to boots but i think it's a great idea worth looking into. I want my cheast rig to allow me to crawl around if need be and not have all my mags getting smashed into the ground and my stomach. I was thinking about going with an h rig but i also like vests.

Try finding some of the 5 mag AK satchels. They are usually quite cheap and very light so they won't hinder your sneakyness. Grab a couple of those and a canteen and you should be set.

Are you looking for a look with all this function?
A price range?
Cause I am a huge advocate of the Tactial Tailor MAV for light weight rigs that can be thrown over heavier stuff if the situation warrents it.
But if it's outside of your price range, Condor will be releasing a clone in the coming months for likely half the price.

If you want minimalistic, light LBE, ALICE gear beats all. H- or Y-harness with web belt for a couple mag pouches, radio pouch, dumper, canteen if you want. I personally roll a LBV-88 which is an ALICE vest (both of what you wanted). I don't really use the mag pouches on the vest; I use a ALICE mag pouch on the belt and use the vest to attach my hydro pack so I don't have to use canteens.

I would suggest looking into getting an LBV-88. Look at classifieds and military surplus (I got mine at 5RAC's gear swap). ALICE belt and pouches can be had at any self-respecting mil surplus store for cheap cheap.

EDIT: ALICE mag pouches are made for STANAG mags. With an AK, you could use MOLLE mag pouches and put them on an ALICE belt (I do that with a MOLLE radio pouch). This works just fine.

The MAV is made of sex. Depends on your budget/ the look you want.

Truth.
A little more info on what you see in your head when you think about the gear you want would really help us point you in the right direction.

I'm with Polygeist on this one. You should get an LBV. I have one and it's light weight and very reliable. The best way to find one will be getting one from a military surplus store.

I'd say a Chicom-type chest rig. Cheap and durable. ALICE gear is excellent but I don't think that the pouches fit AK mags.
