Are STAR Pmags the PTS Kind?

Postby k3gn3123512 » Mon Feb 22, 2010 3:36 pm

I was wondering if the PMAG's produced by STAR are the ones from the PTS Division? Because I have seen sites advertise the mags as STAR PTS PMAG and other sites just as STAR PMAG which one is it?

Technically, yes, they are officially licensed by Magpul PTS

However, they are the "Green Label", IE economy model. The quality, capacity, finish are not as good as the PTS, but for the price I can't complain. I had to file down the feeding nub thingy in order to make it work with my G&P, but otherwise they are good.

Ok thanks then. I suppose I have to wait until the PTS PMAG's are in stock. I have one because it came with my gun and I just love it.

For the finish & feel, the PTS 120-round PMAG's are awesome. They can also take real-steel PMAG ranger plates so you can actually save money getting those instead of the PTS ones.

I picked up some Green Label 30-round ones made by Star and A) they are a cheaper plastic and B) need some futzing to get them to load properly. I use them as my "Oh $#^@!" mags when I run through my regular PMAG's.

Thanks, I'll rather invest in something good then. Thanks for the tip.

I use the star pmags. They are a little tight in my l85, otherwise no issues.
Shut up and play
