One of the things that helped me a lot in learning to lead a team:
Start out as a member of another team, watch how their leadership works. Slowly work up to leading small groups in that team, once you feel comfortable with leading, branch off to create your own team. If the guys on your team have played with you and the other team, and have played in your small group, or squad, that makes it even easier to have a "Core group". The most important thing I can say, be open minded, swallow your pride, and if someone else has an idea, hear it out. I'd rather hear out an idea and not use it, than ignore an idea that would have gotten us to achieve our objective.

Don't forget to grow a mustache, and keep a flask of whiskey in your breast pocket. And wear gold aviators.
If at first you don't succeed, sky diving isn't for you.
