Wow. Anybody else notice that this bill amends an Energy Management law? WTF does Energy Management have to do with airsoft equipment?

Why is it that you won't tell people anything about yourself, but you call people by their "real name" on the boards...
Maybe they want and deserve the same kind of OPSEC you want to have.

This is from the site about the bill for those of you who didn't actually go read it.

IN GENERAL.—Except as provided in paragraph (2), each toy firearm, look-alike firearm, or imitation firearm shall be marked or manufactured, or both, so that the coloration of the entire exterior surface of the toy firearm, look-alike firearm, or imitation firearm—

‘‘(A) is white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, or bright purple, either individually or as the predominant color in combination with any other color in any pattern; and
‘‘(B) is permanent.

I don't know why people are talking about them trying to take away airsoft guns...

If you took offence to my statement then that's your own prerogative, cause it was meant to be silly. I clearly put a laugh at the end of it. And if you guys thought I was talking about law enforcement being the inapproprate ones then you are reading into it. Too bad no one can appreciate a silly comment. It's just forum guys, lighten up

Especially when, to my knowledge, I've never met the guy.

A. I really don't care.
B. LOL. You want to be a grammar nazi, compare yourself to me in another thread, and then you change my name to "Orge."

*sigh*

Also note that it's not capitalized. That is on purpose. If you use the English language correctly, when you violate the rules it is to make a point. I am making one. No one understands it, unfortunately.

It's okay, nothing gets through the senate and house nowadays.

Maybe the rise of Fallout airsoft exclusively? ;)

Shock and awe i guess :)

But if these guns come new painted like that, how many kiddies will just go play nerf wars or laser tag again? Or just swap to paintball since those guns aren't effected.

These types of "paint" laws will only hurt our hobby, not help. If less people buy them, then eventually there will be less supply and higher prices like when it first started out. So essentially taking away our guns :) (in a round about way)

This law wouldn't be all bad if they implemented a "UKARA" style outlet for established players looking to keep a more realistic paint finish. The kids buying cheapo AEGs from some sports store would get bright obvious replicas and established players could keep the cool stuff.
I'm a major chairsofter, sorry about that.

I read the text of the proposed law. I can't find anything that prohibits the end-user from spray painting the replica after purchase. If this passes, I imagine that we will see more "challenge kits", and a lot more business in aftermarket parts, but I don't see much in the way of changes to life for serious hobbyists. The idiot parents will still buy Airsoft guns for their idiot kids, but they will now look like toys instead of guns. Which is bad, but for reasons outside the scope of this discussion.

I would prefer the law to fail, but the sky won't fall if it passes.

The dumbest part of this is, some douchebag criminal can still go to the store, buy a toy gun, spray paint it black, and rob a store or individual.

In the past, my friends and I have joked about painting our guns (real steel) to look like Nerf or Super Soaker, and then taking them to the range just to see peoples reactions. Bills like this do no good.
