What holds you back from doing WWII Airsoft?

Discussion of Airsoft use for re-enactment, WWII/WWI airsoft, Vietnam and more.

I would really enjoy doing WWII games. The only problem is that I would have to buy a full WWII loadout and considering how expensive the gear is I can't afford it right now.

I'm just not interested in it at all.

I love M1 Carbines, and BARs but besides that its eh.

No events around, and gear with uniform is too expensive

There are a lot of varieties of WW2 games you can do. There were battles and scenarios you can play out that spanned from Partizan French, to Russian front, to Japanese battles.

There's a lot of options out there that you can make fairly cheap, especially Russian front. With the coming of the PPSH, you can get a uniform for maybe $100.

All goes back to the ol' circular arguments...

People who want to won't buy gear because they say there are no events, but there are no events because people who want to won't buy gear.

A passable impression is no more expensive than what I see the average regular player with at a 'modern' op. No one is expecting anyone to be reenactment or movie accurate.

I have gear, but can't afford to go to Washington every year to use it. Still need the belt, Y-strap, gas mask canister, mess kit, e-tool, and MP40 pouches. Since every job I get falls apart, I don't even have time to think about getting it all.

Here's the beginnings of my USMC loadout.

Real M1 Carbine, some smart manufacturer should make a proper AEG version.

Problem solved.

Having the gear is not the problem affording it more like it,

No thanks, I'd rather not have it fall apart after the first use.

I just don't like any ww2 guns offered, and being 16 I dont have access to do much in the way of structurally modding any offered guns into what I'd like (like some of the people who have converted m14s into M1 Garands)...

I would enjoy doing WWII games just for the break in the monotony. If I was to do a loadout I would probably do something along the lines of American or British sniper. I had toyed with the idea of modding a bolt into an M1903 or Enfield. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions (perhaps what base bolt to convert, etc) I could use a project and I would like to make that work.

I'm planning on getting a Russian Naval Infantry and Japanese impression, but the cost is so freakin' expensive...Which is basically what keeps me from doing reenactment airsoft.
