DE M3 stock wobble issue

Postby Shiloh » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:16 pm

I have this shotgun: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=5903 and love it, but recently have had a problem.

I got the gun, and the first thing I noticed that the stock was a tiny bit wobbly. "No problem," I said. "It probably won't get any worse." I was wrong.

After shooting it a couple of times in the backyard, I noticed the stock had gotten VERY loose, as in the pistol grip had also started to come loose. (For those who aren't familiar with the design, the buffer tube holds the pistol grip on to the gun as well)

Since the screw is in the far end of the buffer tube, I had to shine a flashlight down there to check it out. Appears to be a torx. So has anyone else had this issue? I was looking at it and I'm sure it's a torx (torks, I'm not sure) but I don't know what diameter head I should use to tighten it.

Can anyone help?
"Why do you need a GUN?!"
"To poke holes in things too far away to get with the stick."

it's a very common problem with these shotguns, it's the hex screw at the base of the stock tube and you need an extremely long hex screw driver to get to it and tighten it up. i know that Gunny or Commiehunter know the correct hex size.

Epoxy, use it or you'll loose your stock. Ask Ivan. He knows.

I go that exact shotgun on my vest. I took off the stock temporarily and put a fender washer, and a lock washer and a longer bolt in it. Works like a charm. I also did it with the stock on and it still works, only you need a smaller washer.

I looked and its a 4mm. Use a 4mm not a SAE size, you'll round the points off.

Try some thread-lock before you do something drastic.

It's not just the screw that comes loose. I've seen enough wobble on the things even with the screw jacked down. There's enough space between the stock and the shotgun receiver itself to allow movement.

Randal, I never had issues with my shotgun. Just had to make sure the screw was tightened down. You saw how rough I was with that thing too. Yes, I know that Ivan's snapped off, but that doesn't mean every single one could do it.

Gresham, try tightening the screw first. If that fixes the issue, then just make sure to keep it tight.

And I've seen one that didn't need to be tightened at all. What's your point? I didn't say "Renegade is wrong. shazaam that." I said try something a little less permanent first.
