How to carry a shotgun as a secondary?

Postby shakespeare » Tue Oct 12, 2010 6:59 pm

I was thinking about procuring a short, stockless shotgun (probably a UTG stockless M3). It would be to act as a secondary weapon if my AEG went down, to have a CQC legal weapon, or to act as a less lethal or breaching shotgun for CQC games.
The thing is, I don't know how to carry the sucker around if I buy it. I would prefer to carry it on my back somehow, but I'm not quite sure how to implement it. I wear a Land CIRAS.
Could I get some suggestions?

Would say, a 1 point sling and a weapons catch work?

I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

Sweet. I might use a combo of a carabiner and paracord in place of a sling though. But it sounds pretty nifty :)
and thanks for the tactics advice, KA-BAR :)

Depending on how your pouches are situated, you can sling it behind pouches with a simple 2 point sling. But that is for urban operations. You *should* be down on your belly most of the time in the woods, so that's not a viable option.

Also, you can fabricate a sort of hook and snap for a slinged weapon to your belt behind those pouches for more active use of your body.

And look into rules about shotguns for breaching. I think it has to be blue, not that I like that idea, just a heads up if it's for breaching.

I think you'd be better off with a secondary AEG or small gas gun slung, like an UZI, MP5K, TMP, MP7, etc.

I might end up doing that, this is just an idea thats been swimming around in my head. I'm probably going to be either getting my pistol up and running or getting a new one before I figure out the shotgun thing.

Warning: 550 cord + carabiner= painful shoulders. Even with a PC on. I learned that from experience.

I think the shotgun scabbard is a more practical idea, its not like you have to switch to it in a hurry or anything

Yeah. Plus, it protects your gun from extra wear when not in use. I have yet to pick one up though.

It sure is more practical... until you use it. The scabbard is useless indoors
And they are not really built well. Get a weapons catch and you'll be happier

I would definitely use the blue masking tape, it would present more variety of options.
