TM Spas 12

Postby Pigmartyr » Sun Oct 17, 2010 7:24 pm

I just got a used Spas 12 from a guy and was wondering if there is any cleaning or maintenance advice out there for these old things. It shoots well and racks just fine but I'd like to make sure everything is working like it should. It's a bit beat up and probably hasn't been cleaned much.

And just for the heck of it, are there any upgrade options?

I'm thinking of checking out that Apocalyptica game at The Farm so I'd like to get this thing working as best as I can.

Oh one more thing. It's not the folding stock version incase you guys were wondering. I'd love to find one of those at some point too.

You don't really need to clean it unless you get gunk inside it (ie mud, water).

And way back when companies did make upgrade parts for them, but as far as I can tell nobody does anymore.

With tri-shot shotguns, its best to leave them all together. They are they devil to put back together and there is zero aftermarket support.

DO NOT OPEN THEM UP. Trust me... TRUST ME.
There are springs and barrels... BUT DON'T BOTHER, PLEASE DON'T.

Also... DO NOT HOLD THE TRIGGER AND PUMP (SLAMFIRE) That is BADBADBADBAD!!!

I used to have a TM SPAS-12...

Yeah no worries about slam firing. I read your post about that already lol.

I won't and wasn't really intending on opening it up. But are there are oiling tips or anything? Or should I just not worry at all?

I really do love this thing and am also looking into more shotguns. The tri barrel design is wicked.
