UTG tri-shot shotgun ammo problem

Postby Green-Ranger » Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:01 pm

Hello of my airsoft gear i have a UTG tri shot shotgun and the FPS is about 330 but the spread of the bb's is very wide and i was wondering if i could use .25 gram bb's instead of .20 or will that slow the FPS down too much any and all help is appreciated.

well yes you can use .25s, it wont slow the fps down too considerably.

I'm just wondering but why would you wanna lower the fps? To lower the spread?

The heavier your BB's, the tighter the spread and the lower the FPS. However, your gun retains the same energy for pretty much every BB. A .12 going 375FPS will feel almost the same as a .43 going 250. Just use .25's in your tri shot, and you should be fine.

ummmm, .25 is 25% heavier than .20, Force=Mass * Acceleration. If mass goes up, acceleration goes down because force has to stay the same because the spring creates the force, the spring remains the same. If F=MA then F=1.25M*.8A meaning you lose 20% of your velocity. At 330, you're losing as near as makes no difference 100fps, thats a lot.

Thank you all for replies the reason behind the .25s would be because i would get a tighter grouping of bbs so i have a higher shot of getting someone out right now they are spreading very much with .20s i gues i just have to experiment.
