Orange Tip of Cyma M14 SOCOM really a suppressor mount?

Postby Wisenheimer » Thu May 05, 2011 9:53 am

I read somewheres on the ol' interweb that the plastic ring orange tip of the Cyma M14 is really to mount a suppressor. Is this bullshit, or is there a suppressor to fit on that? Seems weird, with an ease of loss feature. I have looked all over the place, so don't even tell me to use google.

if i remember right, its just a plastic ring glued to the end of the flash hider to give it the orange tip its required to have to import.

there are M14 specific suppressors, and i think there are some threads buried under the flash hider, but they have nothing to do with the orange ring.

If my memory serves me correctly(somebody correct me if I'm wrong), the Cyma Soc16 uses a 3 blade type slide on flash hider... not sure if and of the m14 suppressors, or QD suppressors would fit over top of that, or you might need to source a new outer barrel... I replaced mine with a Echo1 barrel from a SOC16EBR

Indeed there are no threads under the flash hider. I thought it kinda odd that there would be such a thing. But it got me looking at some PVC in the garden house... that might actually just fit right on there. I'll dink around and see, maybe mock up a suppressor. Maybe not. :o

I own a CM032a and there is definitely no threads on the barrel at all. As for the full length version there actually are.

NECRO! Well.... Follow up.

I was looking at this wondering if what I'd read was worth giving a diddley-squat about...

Image

So, I went to Home Despot today, and got myself one of these (sorry, took the pics after I made the cuts.)...

Image

As you can see, I cut off the threaded ends. Then I placed it on the plastic orange tip like this...

Image
Image

Well what do you know! It's nice and snug! So I went to pop it off when this happened...

Image

The awesome part is the fact that it fits so tightly I have to twist pretty firmly to remove the PVC/orange tip combination. I'm going to go ahead and glue the two pieces together so they are permanent. I will post pics of the finished result. Here is the exact part I used, it's a garden sprinkler extension piece...

Don't go being an idiot with these instructions.

I'm not sure, that may have problems with different sized outer barrels.

Regardless, there's usually something that can be engineered from Home Depot parts when it comes to airsoft suppressors.

Not many threads like this. At least as far as I gave crap to look. Tryin' to be a smart guy? Proceed. Wolves abound.

So to continue... Here's a washer I used for the end of the suppressor...

Then I painted the entire thing black in my super awesome paint booth of glory...

And now it looks like this...

Bonus for you if you know what the thing next to the stand is...

There's lots of fingerprints. I'll probably touch it up again, but I think I may do a little fill with something on the end with the washer. Just to make it look like a single piece.
