I would check the calibration on the measuring device, than check again.
What brand is the barrel?
Anything smaller than 6.01 is generally undesirable due to manufacturer tolerances in bbs. That being said, Airsplat bbs are the largest I'm aware of at 5.97mm. Generally, bbs are 5.95+\- .03.
So I'm going to go something was screwed up in the measuring of the barrel (assuming it feeds and shoots normal airsoft bbs).
FIRE CLEANSES ALL!
