This will be very good. I think this will be good for gun discipline and on the field.

I'm hoping that after this some of the people out there who feel that they have what it takes to get this job done will realize it's not as exciting or fun as they thought it would be, sell their bolt action and pick up an AEG.

We can hope. :D The intensity of this competition added to the fact that in the field they will have to shoot at moving targets, could very well convince someone to hang up the ghillie.

Really Rick this is to help people learn where they are weak and teach them through success and failure.

Im hoping to see some real skill on the field, or at the very least the desire to achieve.

I will say though: With this type of competition, there will be prizes for the winners ect...not a raffle.

So, for those who have prior experience in the real world or those that have worked on their sneaky skills in this game, there will be a real reward for being the winner.

So any idea what it'd cost (I know I'm asking the same question twice)?

Once we've made our two shots will we have to make it out without being seen?

After you make the second shot you sit and wait until giving the go to stand so the distance can be measured. It's either when the spotters give up or X amount of time has passed since said second shot.

Personally I would love to join in on this if my gun had not gone down. Is there a said date you are shooting for? If the date fits correctly I might be able to get my uncle to be a spotter for you, he was a sniper in Vietnam for 4 years I believe probably longer. This is a great idea hope you can get this set up.

Now the real question is what will Seagreen win for first place?

This is gonna rock. I also think that vamps's question is a good one. It'd make sense for us to have to get out without being seen, or at least get to a certain distance without being seen. That's a big part of sniping; having an escape route planned out beforehand. There's no point in taking a shot if you can't go anywhere once you're done... =P

I think that it should try to mirror the USMC Scout-Sniper course, at least in that a perfect score is stalking, taking the shot and retreating without being seen. In other news, I'm totally down for this. It's going to be substantially harder than the real-steel version, though, because we'll need to get far closer to make our shots accurately. They have the luxury of taking shots from 100-300 yards out with an extreme degree of accuracy.

Well, uh... Yes, that will happen.

I've thought about that a lot, becuase the stalking aspect of airsoft is harder than real world stalking. Of course, in real world environments, the difference in effective ranges between a real steel sniper rifle and a real steel assault rifle (especially one only using iron sights, making longer shots difficult) is much larger than it is between airsoft sniper rifles and airsoft assault rifles. The difference is maybe a 50-100 foot effective range, which isn't all that hard to cover on foot (maybe 5-8 seconds to run 50 feet in rough terrain).

I think you should leave it to the event promoters to decide what happens and the grading criteria.
