Have you ever played in an OP before? Its a little different and more demanding than the backyard wars you're used to.

Before you so hastily throw yourself (and therefore me as well) onboard with this thing, we should clear some things up.

As Tian probably won't let slip, we can both safely be considered noobs. Most of our Airsoft experience has been comprised of reading this board for a year or two, a skirmish here and there, and OP: SP. This OP is obviously looking to be more tailored to vets and teams, a category we don't fit into. However, although we are "noobs" in the sense that we haven't had much playtime, I can say with confidence that the way we conduct ourselves on the boards and at games is with respect and common sense, and that we have a real desire to learn more and follow orders on the field. We aren't grammaticly challenged forum idiots posting about things we know nothing about, or power-gamers who ignore hits and want only to win, or LPEG weilding punks who think we're hot shit. We just aren't very experienced yet.

Which leads to the question that some of you might groan at: Will players like us be allowed? I understand that there were alot of bad experiences at SP with letting no-name noobs in at the door, which thus fueled the desire to return to a more elitist method of selection for smaller scale games. But mixing some of the "smart noobs" amongst the grizzled ancients of AP in an actual Mil-Sim type game may be exactly what we need.

Clarification of the question asked in this post should make the target audience a bit clearer. If the answer is no, then so be it, tough shit for us. If it's a yes, then it should be fairly easy to tell who amongst the noobs has potential.

Phew. I'm done.

Get the proper gear to look the part, be lead by experienced players, listen to those experienced players, call your hits, and have fun.

That's all you need to do. :D

Great post, and very well written. :)

There will be lots of 'singles' there, so no worries about that. Zeus has put a cap of 16 on the event, so if you meet that criteria you're in.

Smart noobs are cool. Honesty is cool. An effort to learn is cool. Asking questions is cool. The kind of noob you are seeing griped about here are kids that are out of control, unsafe, and disrespectful (as in, a huge a$$). The welcome you will get is not as hostile as it sounds here. There are a lot of players of different ages at these things, and in general everyone isn't standing in little clumps glaring at each other. It's pretty friendly. As the event gets closer just put out a request to play with someone, and you'll get some offers. You can also just show up and play with whatever group you get pointed to.

PM Zeus and ask questions - they will get answered.

That's not exactly the right information, since this is the first game we've had in a long time that has a maximum player cap... We will NOT be allowing walk-ons. Teams and individuals will have to register in advance.

Sorry about that. I don't want to spread bad info. Pre-registering is a great idea.
