Terra First had an awsome time yesterday, especially in games 3 and 4. Thanks to everybody who helped put on the game. And screw Chris of APST, who shot me in my healing tattoo with an m249.

Great game everyone! I'm sore as hell from coming right from an 8 hour shift of work to sling plastic with everyone, but DAMN, it was worth it! Thanks to everyone that put up with me, as I'm still learning. Once again KA-BAR, damn fine shooting. Also glad to hear april is ok.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the next! :)

It's the size of a softball. My pinky finger needed 3 or 4 stitches (duct tape FTW!). I threw up this morning.

I'd do it all again tomorrow.

When's the next game?

Sniper Safety Kill

Postby justin.i.wang » Mon Oct 08, 2007 10:01 am

I thought there was a rule on this, but since this was my first big op I didn't call it out because I didn't know the rules. I also didn't remember anyone saying anything on it.

This is just a reminder.

SNIPER SAFETY
Anyone acting as a sniper with an upgraded bolt action rifle over 400 fps (1.5j) should carry a sidearm that can be used alternately when engaging targets closer than about 60 feet. If you have no sidearm and find yourself too close to the opposing force, you may either a) call a safety kill, b) wait until they move to a safe range or c) relocate to a safe range. Do not fire at targets closer than 60 feet.

The reason why I repeat this is because I read about the guy who had his safety glasses shattered. I also encountered a guy who shot my gun and I thought it was going to crack. The ricochet off my gun hit my inner arm and drew blood.

So this goes to the guy across the road shooting at me from about 30 feet with your scoped sniper next to a dead guy down the hill from the village. ;) I had the AK you know who you are.

If your safety glasses shattered from a BB then you aren't using ANSI-rated glasses.

Airsoftwiki.org wrote:In order to pass basic Z87.1 test, a lens is required to withstand the impact of a one-inch diameter steel ball dropped from a height of 50-inches. To pass a high Z87.1 test, goggles are required to withstand a steel ball with a 1/4 inch diameter shot at 250 FPS.

There is no way in the world any airsoft gun on the planet can propel an airsoft-weight BB with the same amount of force as a 1/4" steel ball bearing would have at 250fps or a one-inch ball bearing dropped from 50 inches (over four feet).

Buy glasses that are ANSI Z87.1 rated.

The sniper's conduct was not to be condoned but you should enter onto the field with appropriate safety equipment.

Just to clarify I wasn't trying to say that the guys eye glasses busted because of a sniper. It was merely reminded of the safety situation that needs to be maintained.
If anything I was the uneducated one. I should have called it.

I don't condone such nonsense, Morgan.

You carry a fixed blade knife on the field.

You threaten people with pysical violence.

I have seen an outbust from you before on the field about this issue. The sidearm rule applies (as far as I know) ONLY to snipers.

Personally, as much as I love you, I would (more now than ever) deem to shoot you once with my AEG other than draw my sidearm.

Stop threatening people.

Really.

Morgan read the sniper safety above and then maybe re-evaluate your post.

edit: nevermind, you posted it just before I did :)

You're partially right Riddick, but for the conversation at hand, you're wrong. Snipers don't have to carry sidearms, but that means they cannot engage at distances under 60 feet. If they wish to shoot someone that's closer than 60 feet, they need to call a safety kill, move, don't shoot, or have a sidearm.

I am referring to the SHOULD have to carry a sidearm. not that they should call a safety kill. Safety is always #1 in this sport.

I will give anyone five dollars that can tell me accurately how far 60 feet is and you can be off within 5 fee the next time we are in the woodst. It's alot closer than you think.
