Ok, so for the sake of this discussion, lets leave out RS all together. You say that AEG's and GBB's are different. Ok. But the principle behind the mechanics is the same. Some sort of compressed gas (Oxygen, Propane/Green gas, red gas, HFC 134a, CO2...) is used to accelerate a bb down a length of barrel. Do you agree with me so far?

Hopefully yes, because that is what is happening. Now, the longer the barrel, the more time there is for the gas to expand and accelerate the bb. Agree?

Now, the "loss" of power would come from the gas not accelerating the bb. This ONLY happens when the bb leaves the barrel and there is no more gas pushing it. As soon as the bb leaves the barrel it decelerates.

So, a barrel with a shorter length will stop accelerating a bb sooner than a longer barrel. Agree?

I'll touch on accuracy in my next post. If you would, please respond to this post with disagreements, preferably quoting my post so I can see what you disagree with.

so what gun should i get M4 or M16 both would be same length because the silencer im putting on the m4 if i were to get it would be 6 inches to the m4 so its basically the same length as the m16 only with a retractile crane stock but how much would the inner barrel stick out with the 509 inner barrel in the m4 would anyone know? and also whats the best hop bucking to buy and are those DBC any good does anyone experience jams?? thanks

Sorry for derailing your thread. I would get the m4 and put a silencer on it. I also would keep the barrel short so that you can take the silencer off if you ever decide to do CQC stuff. That way, you can have a shorter weapon. From what I've heard, Dee's barrels are amazing, however almost everyone is out of stock on them. For hop up bucking's looking the Warrior Tech stuff, again, I've heard great things about them. These you get from Riddick. He is a local retailer in the PacNW, and is a member of these forums. If you are going to put a longer barrel in it, than I say get the M4. A crane stock is more comfortable to use than a standard stock in my opinion.

Edit: I just noticed your location, I have family in Danville. Ever hear of the Cooper's?

I have an M4 that I put a slightly longer barrel in, but not M16 length. I noticed an immediate increase in accuracy and effective range, but it is still shorter than an M16 overall. I'm not sure how it compares to a 509mm barrel, but I have a 470mm precision barrel. I went with the M4 platform because I like the looks, as well as now I can swap between a standard M4 and a "silenced" m4 with extended barrel for more range and accuracy without having a separate weapon. Sometimes a full length rifle is just too heavy to lug around IMO

I love carrying around an M14, and that is by far the heaviest and largest gun to lug around besides a SAW, or maybe SCAR.

If you are looking for a small but accurate rifle, and are not dead set on M4/M16 design, I will suggest to you a AUG. By ingenious design, the AUG can fit a 509mm barrel into a gun as small or smaller than an M4. Combined with a suppressor, paintjob, optics, tightbore, hop-up, and a few FPS upgrades, you get a sexy and functional gun.

If your stuck with KWA, I would go with an M4 and as long as a barrel as you feel comfortable with using, a suppressor, optics, and your good to go. You could even do a SOP-MOD.

Another gun that a buddy of mine recently got was the King Arms SR-25. Came stock shooting 350 w/ .23, a 515mm inner barrel, and it just looks sexy. I have to say it is really nice.

I'm pretty sure he is getting the M16. I had a pretty long discussion with him last night on AIM.

Viper, I have both an m14 and a SCAR, and the m14 is noticeably heavier. Now, I don't have anything attached to my SCAR, but with all the rail space, I can easily see how it can get heavier.

On a side note: I'm starting to think that Sig68 isn't coming back.... :(

well the longer the barrel the more friction the bb has to over come and that is where you get the loss of power.....
