Oh yeah, and Top:

Nothing is perfect, so anyones' complaints aside, I think we almost universally agree that this was an outstanding game- OUTSTANDING!

I personally loved how you manipulated the weather to up the suck factor. :D As in, this sucks but I kinda like it.

Quads are killing me today from all the running and hillclimbing. That just helps keep the day fresh in my memory.

Thanks, Top. Detailed AAR incoming, maybe by PM

Tombstone, Switch and Mulisha Mitch: I am curious from a scientific standpoint: were you wearing any face covering at all (shemagh, balaclava, mouthpiece, etc)? I am trying to ascertain the relative protective value of those items against a frontal face shot.

He had a shemagh but only as a neck wrap.

It's kind of simple though, if you get shot in the teeth by high powered AEGS your running a high risk of getting it chipped.

I feel very fortunate only being hit a few times... There were a bunch of Holy Shi#s coming from me as I was trying to get to different locations... only got hit in the face once as well... Whew

:D For those that didn't know, that crate was loaded with 50 lbs of field chalk.

The Cartel had to carry it from Starlog to HH... and the SF had to carry it from HH to Starlog. Not an easy task for either team. But suprising both teams completed that mission

Having spent the better part of the day watching and observing and trying to fit the pieces together, I have no major complaints. It would have been nice to have the yellow smoke's purpose identified in advance, as I had quite a few "What does that mean?" calls that my only real response was "Got me..." that was one of the "suprises" during the phase.

If there are going to be smoke missions (or any sort of "fire support"), those individuals need to be dedicated admins who are monitoring for the calls. Once we've used our mission, they can do whatever needs doing, but until then, I need them on the wire, ready to listen. Actually, the instructions to you were... you were supposed to contact me on Channel 1 to request a smoke mission. then in turn I would come up on your command channel to find out where you wanted it. When I figured you were probably overwelmed with radio calls and such I got Mobius to contact you (my bad I didn't get your command channel before the game) just to remind you that option was available.

There's probably more stuff in my brain, but this is all the stuff I can think up...

You're right, those were the instructions and I was aware of them. The smoke mission being off target was more my fault than anyone else's. If I had been more on the ball, my next radio call should have been for the second smoke on the corrected target or to put the appropriate field leader on the wire to get the smoke where he wants it.

There were a lot of things I could have done better, and I think it'll be a while before I volunteer myself for the role again, for a variety of reasons, but, it was a learning experience.

Yeah something I was thinking if you are going to have some kind of higher command structure he needs staff with radios... that way its not just one guy listening to two or three radios trying to make sense of things. This way you can always have someone talking to other people, there will be a lot of "stand by" and asking the CO a question but it will be more efficient than trying to have everyone talking to one person directly.

Don't beat yourself up... you did outstanding.. and I personally want to thank you for stepping up with less than a week to go. Not very many people would have even attempted it, and you did... good job :)

SA AAR

Postby Jerm_G » Mon Mar 16, 2009 2:08 pm

First off I would like to thank Top, the admins and cammera men for all their hard work. With out you the game would have been complete chaos. Great job and I cant wait to see how your events evolve.

I also want to thank my fire team and squad. You guys did great. Every major fire fight, you guys were right up front slinging plastic, responing as quick as posible and doing your best to put the hurt on the cartel. All of you were the shock troops Rebel and I were looking for.

Now for my AAR. The game actually went pritty well for the size of the field and 400+ players. I walked the field on Sat before the night game and realized that there wasnt going to be alot of room. I enjoy the ability to patrol to an objective and some room to set up an ambush or just manuver a little more. The reason I play mil-sim is to use mil tactics not just sling BBs. I feel that if SA was 3 or 4 times larger, that it would have been even more epic. We worked with what we had and in that reguard it went well.

Switching up the sides of the field would have been nice as well. Attacking up hill all day was fun but it would have been nice to play the other side of the field a little more. Many US forces probibly only saw it on the walk in.

I would like to see some work on the medic/corpsman role a little more. Band-aids seemed like a waist to me. A strip of white t-shirt would have been better. I would have also like to have seen a limit on how many times a medic can heal you before you respon. 1 seems to me about right. That would eliminate a medic from just endlessly touching people back into a fight. There was alot more I did see but all of it has been gone over, these were the major issues I had at the event. Over all I would give it an 8 out of 10. Once again great event.

What is this "Suck weather" people are talking about.
It was a nice day with almost no rain it wasn't very cold.
There was mud from the rain the night before but that's the worst of it.

Top, that's cause I was wearing knee pads and I didn't have my laptop with me. :p. I honestly don't know how I stayed so clean. Though by the time the day was over, my boots were covered in so much muck that I was afraid to step any where. I had a blast though. Oh and yeah my throat is still a little bit rough from that final assault up HH (with a dead battery, about half a mag of ammo and my pistol.

And to Rockettravis a platoon leader is only as good as their men, I want to thank you guys for all the support that you guys gave me, along with Junto and DRAT, you guys were right there by my side through the entire game.

Also, I know Fish will do it, but Terror, I want to thank you for such a great job as a leader. Thanks for letting me run 1st Platoon, I hope that the next time we roll together I get put in a leadership position.
